if it was me
If I owned the M50, I would be in there like a shot. The owner has been programming patches, and combis for upcoming gigs. All was well, it seemed to lock up, as it could still be played, but you couldn't change to another sound, or make any changes. It was powered down, it now refuses to boot up. I ...

need a dump
You will need something that will dump the contents back to the Wavestation. If the files are .syx files it will need to be a dedicated sysex editor / librarian. Not sure what there is on the Mac. If the files are .mid then a sequencer program might be able to play back these files. You might need ...

just error?
Will if I can.. Just replaced a battery on an M1 on Tuesday. This had "low battery" on the display, and of coarse it managed to lose all it's programs and combis. Would have been nice if the warning had come before that happened. Does everything light up as normal? Can anything be operated, and does ...

m50 crashed, now refuses to boot
Serious problem. Call from a friend regarding one of his new M50's. (only around 4 months old) Front panel seemed to lock up, but would still play sounds, just wasn't able to change or alter anything. He's done what 99% of what all IT help lines recommend, turned it off, and tried to turn it back on ...

play your cards right
If both cards are ROM cards, the PCM card will be, not sure about the data card, but suspect it is too.. then a poorly battery will have no effect on the cards. Even if the data card is a RAM card, it would have it's own internal battery. As to the card problem within the M1.. I would expect the ...

Does anyone know if this has a multi-tapped transformer inside?
A friend is moving from the UK to Mexico, and needs to know what will and will not be able to work.
I know a step up transformer (autotransformer) could be used, but it would be handy to know if it's just a case of moving a wire to two.

Sadly not. M1 was bolted together in a hurry, and real-time effect control wasn't though of, in fact it took a while for such measures to come into play. Think the Wavestation allows real-time control of effects using controllers, such as the mod wheel. You can use the pedal inputs to control effect ...

you know the answer really
answer:
UK 230 V ~
USA 110 V ~
You will need a suitable power supply unit for your MS2000 to work in the USA.

NO SWITCH CLEANER!!!!!
Roland tend to use rubberised contact strips. They sometimes lift where there is a break between the strips. This lets dirt / dust inside. You'll need to remove the notes to get to the strips. Never done a A-33, so can't tell you how to remove them.. other than carefully, don't force them. If you ...

smoke free zone
nice tale Steve.
I deal with 2 M1's that have to try and keep going for a friend.
Imagine my surprise when I read where you are based.
Peterborough UK - so am I.
If I have smoke coming out of any of the 2 I deal with I know who to call.
Perhaps we have crossed paths?
Cheers..

Before you try to dump the data you've got into the M1. Check to see if MIDI filtering is disabled on system exclusive messages. Also see if the memory protection is turned on for Prog & combi memories. Don't have an M1 here to tell you the key presses. I seem to remember the MIDI filter for sysex ...

What happens if you plug the controlling M1 direct into the M1R?
Does the MIDI receive light when the pedal is pushed down, and released?

aren't you the lucky one
I hope all the liquid is out, you might start growing a strange culture else. Might start to smell a bit.. A whole new take on a cheesy synth sounds? Any liquid can mess with electronics. However is it's dried out before power is applied you can sometimes get away with it. I looks as if you've done ...
