question about using PCM/DATA Card for Korg M1

Discussion relating to all other KORG synth related products that don’t have a dedicated section. For example, OASYS PCI, M1, N Series, 01W series, T series, and more…

question about using PCM/DATA Card for Korg M1

Post by zzzxtreme »

hi guys, I just bought an M1. love it ! when I tested it at the seller's church, he has an original synth pcm and data card. so we plugged it in, switch on the M1, and press the card button, but the card button doesn't light up or do anything. is that the correct procedure ?

another question, IF the batteries inside the card are dead, does it mean the PCM waveforms and Data patches data are forever gone?

thanks in advance

If both cards are ROM cards, the PCM card will be, not sure about the data card, but suspect it is too.. then a poorly battery will have no effect on the cards.
Even if the data card is a RAM card, it would have it's own internal battery.

As to the card problem within the M1..
I would expect the card button to light up.

It's possible that because the M1 is so old, oxide has built up on the card readers contacts.
I had this happen on my Wavestation AD. A little contact cleaner on the data cards contacts, and fitting and removing the cards a few times solved the problem.

Or it might be the button not working - simply... :D
