Hi folks.
I just got the good old Wavestation ex. But al the factorydata is gone bcause of the battery had to be change.
Now my only problem is, how I dump sys ex data.
I have no knowledge about this and what to do.
I have a USB to midi converter (from mac to Wavestation)
- and a Sys ex transmitterprogram and the actually files to the wavestation.
I have try to dump data to the wavestation whitout luck, and think that I do something wrong.
If there is someone outthere who can help me with a easy guideline I will be glad.
I'm a little lost.
Thank you.
Tomas

Pretty sure it will be some sysex/program protection - have a look at your manual, sections 'using midi (to save your data)' and the pages about global settings.
However, before that you should test whether MIDI communications is alive between the two, e.g. by recording something from the keyboard into a sequencer program (verifying visually whether keypresses are correctly recorded) and playing back some MIDI file from the computer to the Wavestation.

need a dump
You will need something that will dump the contents back to the Wavestation.
If the files are .syx files it will need to be a dedicated sysex editor / librarian. Not sure what there is on the Mac.
If the files are .mid then a sequencer program might be able to play back these files.
You might need to enable sysex within the sequencer program, some filter it out.
You may also have to check the Wavestation, as I've just changed a battery on an M1, it needed all it's programs, and combis reloading. I had to go into golbal, and enable sysex before being able to do so.
I used an old Yamaha MDF2 data drive. Luckily for the owner, I had repaired it recently, and backed up it's contents.
