Assign tracks 1-16 to outputs 1-4?

Post by darkarmy »

In the sequencer, how do I assign tracks 1-16 to outputs 1-4? I have a whole new cd written in the sequencer and I am ready to begin recording using the 1-4 outputs.

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon

You assign the outputs in the Insert Effect routing page.

What if?

What if I have my insert effect assigned to differeint channels to put effects on them? For instance: Insert effet 1 set to chorus, assigned to tracks 7 and 15?

As far as I know it's not possible. I know it surprised me too, but using the individual outs bypasses the internal effects. The best thing to do is to apply them to the audio tracks once you've recorded them in your sequencer. You'll probaby get better results with plug-ins anyway.

WTF

I hope you are wrong. Why even have effects in the keyboard then? I have spent countless hours ...years making this cd...effects included. The way I have it set up with the effects are integral to the sound.
If I have to, I will record the whole thing out of the left and right outs with effects. All of the drums, bass...etc on two tracks, unadjustable. Sad....Sad. Then, add guitar and vocals.

on the insert FX page (where you actually choose the effects) there is a bar in the middle before the MFX sends, where you can route the sounds to different outputs after the IFX

Ok...I am going to work on this problem. The way I have these songs set up, the effects are integral to the sound. The option that Matty proposed is not an option. It would be if I had 16 outputs on the korg and was recording to 16 different tracks on my DAW. Meaning, the only way I could add plug in effects to the tracks if if they each had thier own track. For the 4 outputs on the Korg, I will be using track one out for drums...track 2 out for bass...and the other 2 output tracks will have to take up the bulk on the other 14 sounds/trakcs on the sequencer. Meaning, that if I had 5 different synth sounds comming out of output 3 to be recorded onto one track on my DAW, adding an effect would put that effect on each of those 5 differnt synth sounds comming out of output 3 and recordrd to track x. I probably...and most definatley do not want to add the same effect to 5 differnt sequencer tracks.
That is not even to mention that the effects I would get from a plugin would not sound the same as what I have spent countless hours on the korg tweaking to get them to sound how I wanted.

Just my pennys worth,I always find the Triton drums sound better
in stereo. And if you have used stereo effects they will sound strange
just comming out of output 1 only.Dont envy you your task.
Best Of Luck.Let us know how you get on.

The best solution would be to MIDI sync the triton and the DAW. not sure which one would be the master and which the slave though.

then, mute all but the track you want to record (rather, solo the track you want to record), then when you hit record on the DAW, it *should* start the triton playing too, if you have it connected up right.

repeat this for all your tracks on the triton, recording just one or two tracks at a time using the available outs.
