Do you have any interest in working up a DX7 piano library? I don't know why, but the crystal sounds of those FM pianos are really my favorites.

You can actually load DX7 sysex banks directly into MOD7 with the Kronos. There are thousands of sounds floating around on the net.

Interesting. Can you point me to the procedure that explains how to do that?

And also a link to a good source for those sounds would be helpful. I have found something on Ebay that will provide sounds on a CD-ROM, but I'm leery of that sort of source. I've gotten burned before.... :(

Thanks for the tip!

You just load the .SYX files directly from disk mode. You'll get a prompt asking where to put them (it goes by bank of 32). There's a bunch of places you can get sounds but this is one that googling "DX7 sysex" turned up:

One tip with that 200K collection - it uses a lot of subfolders and if there are too many in the file path the Kronos objects when you try to load the file. So you may need to do some housekeeping on the computer before putting them on the K. Also, sounds created for the DX7-II or banks that don't follow the basic system won't work. Still, you can get all factory presets and expansions and a lot of other sounds at near 100 percent authenticity! Enjoy!

Thanks. I will probably weed out 90 percent of the sounds, since I'm really only interested in some specific piano varieties at the moment.

Pleased to announce another new free library, this time with some excellent acoustic and electric guitars.

Busch.
Thank You very much for this library. I'm impressed.

I notice the following legeal statement on the web site:
Purgatory Creek Soundware obtained a special commercial license of the libraries in order to provide it to Korg Kronos users. Please note that these samples are not in the public domain and Jensen Samples retains all rights to ownership of the samples.
What does this this mean in the context of free library. What does free mean here exactly?
Is it just that you don't have to pay for purchasing it, still leaving restrictions in usage?
Or is this library truely free in the sense of freedom, meaning that you can use it in any context of your music, i.e. that you may also use it in the context of commercial production without having to worry about infringement of legal rules?

I contacted Jensen Samples for clarification of the licensing arrangement and it is as I expected. The terms for people who download the Kronos version from http://www.purgatorycreek.com is the same as if you purchased directly from Jensen. This is because I purchased the commercial version of the license. So yes you can use it in your music productions without worry.

I am so glad to hear we can use the jenson samples for our music.
Of all the free samples ive found on the net, burning busch has the best.
These samples are as good as ,in some cases better than the stock sounds in KRONOS.
If the free sounds are this good, Then the paid samples are certainly well worth the money.
