That is simply not true.. we didn't and havent just dropped it... we have discontinued the product after 5 years... we have done updates since this...

I work closely with 3-4 artists in the UK ..one of which a very, very high profile musician who use Oasys daily. Support has certainly not ended and will not end for the forseeable future.. please stop this generalised miss information....

As for M10 .... if there is such a model it would be a cut down M50 to replace the X50/MicroX
You never know, KORG have used backwards numbering many times in the past.

Have to say though I'm not much of a fan of model numbers. It's like KORG spend countless man hours doing the best they can to produce the finest instrument, and then no thought is put into giving it a name. KORG M3 doesn't have the same ring to it as the KORG Trinity, or KORG OASYS if you know what I mean.

Well, I'll have to say that I don't envy those who scratch their heads daily, hoping for a killer new name for a product. Coming up with another cool name that grabs your attention like Triton, Voyetra, Proteus or whatever has to be a tough job. I was thinking about this yesterday, and the M3 suits this baby pretty well, and I agree that it does harken back to the early workstations.

A new M does sound interesting, especially if it's more beastly. A gig or two of sample RAM? Maybe non-volatile? A much bigger ROM? A raft of sliders, knobs, buttons, a big ribbon, more pads? More connectivity, and a next-gen built in m-Lan? Dare I say it... a poly-pressure keyboard??

Oooh... that would make me save a few pennies... :D

Support has stopped for what was first said about the Oasys !!! See the press release (excerpt) issued by Korg below in January 2005 ....

40 years of Korg innovation have led to the creation of the OASYS Open Architecture Synthesis Studio. Designed to provide a unified musical production environment, OASYS unites synthesis, audio hard disk recording, MIDI sequencing, second generation KARMA functionality, a control surface, a CD burner and more under an intuitive interface, highlighted by a large 10.4" color TouchView display.

OASYS is not only an entirely new instrument, but a completely new platform to support Korg innovation for years to come. Powered by a fast computer processor, and running newly-developed proprietary software atop Linux underpinnings, OASYS offers all the benefits of a variable software system, backed by a dedicated operating system and the hardware integrity that can only come from a fully-integrated instrument design.

For years to come eh ???? 4 years ...

I came so close to buying one £500 short ... and then needed a new car !!! so what I had saved went towards that, In some respects I'm glad i never did but in others wish i had of got one (maybe when the drop to a 2k SH)

I love Korg, don't get me wrong, I've had too any to mention over the years some good some not so good but I would of been moaning even more than this if i had brought an Oasys !!!

Kind of agree there. Don't you think romplers/keyboards etc like Fantoms, motifs or indeed the Korg series' itself can only go so far?, before ultimitely having to resort to the like of the "NEKO's/Lionstracs and so forth?

I mean, the OASYS Is a great keyboard, totally awasome, but I think from here onwards, flagship keyboards won't have Roms'/Dimm sticks, CD's even, but more the way of Software keyboards that accepts standard VST's etc - like a pc:)

I just wished Korg would release stuff that sounds fat, dirty and ballsy, like the MS20 did. Korgs synths are too clean and polite, I feel.

I also wished Korg (and others) would take a leaf out of a certain VA synth company which interpolates and smooths values of knobs, getting rid of MIDI stepping/zipper noise once and for all.

Fat and dirty, with balls. [I know that sounds bad!]
And liquid smooth analogue-esque interpolation.

That's my shopping list! :)

I'm talking more about a fat and ballsy workstation though, instead of just a virtual analogue. :D

A workstation with MS20 emulated filters instead of the polite ones.

The shelves would be empty.

Indeed, I've had an Indigo for years. :) The midi interpolation on the knobs is as smooth as silk, it made me wish that all synths were similar. And you can really torture the filters. The EGs are nice and weighty too.

But Korg are capable of grunt, if they want to. They did it with the MS20 legacy. I'd like to see that same grunt spill over into some of their other hardware!

Oh, how I like virus demos - they sound like a real music - just burn on CD and listen. Many other demos still sound like a GM bumbox patterns illustrating how boring may pop music.
