that is wierd.... :? I Guess the fact that yours are the gold plated versions shouldnt really make a massive difference....?? maybe its all about internal gain structure too....Perhaps my patterns are all more uniformly 'quiet' in terms of individual track levels, meaning I can drive the tube gain ...

ok...so I put the JJ ECC803S into my MX last night - very interesting !! They basically dont give you any overdrive / distortion effect at !! with the ECC833s in before, I used to have the tube level at about 10 - 11 'o' clock to get a nice compressed effect without running into actual distortion ...

I've just ordered a pair of JJ(Tesla) ECC803-S from a company called Hot Rox UK...they didnt have the gold-pin variety however, but hopefully they'll pimp my MX sufficiently....
