The new Korg in my Live Setup

Post by Flippertribe »

Hey Guys!

Im thinking about my new live setup for playing Techno as a single artist.

My plan is:

The 1. flight case for:

- long and progressive synths/ pads / string-likes
- 8-track processing and mixing
- special effects or soundscapes
- effects for every track and effects on the master channel

with this hardware in it:

* Ableton Live
* PUSH Controller
* APC 40 Mk2 Controller
* footswitch for live arming tracks in Ableton

The second flight case is for:

* electribe music production station
* electribe sampler (when available)

My question to the members is:

Ive got an additional device i wanna use for the setup:

* Roland VT3 Voice Processor

....for twisted and heavily processed vocals.

Would you guys:

a.) route the VT3 into the Electribe Sampler, therefore dont block any more inputs on the sound card. So id be able to use my small, Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 Interface and fit it all into the case.

The only question is: Since i have no experience with live sampling...do you think the electribe sampler will be able to do live sampling and directly process/ slice and cratively/percussively using the recorded signal within the electribe without stopping the set?
Will it be easy to live chop and go crazy with the vocals?
Was/ is it with the ESX?
Or is fiddling and fine tuning needed for every sample that you freshly load into the tribe befor using it?

b.) Route the VT3 directly into the (in this case) bigger focusrite Saffire Pro 40 and into a single track in Ableton and using the loopers/ Effects / processing within the software.
Here id be forced to use the bigger soundcard, that will not fit into one of the cases together with the setup. Which is kinda annoying.

Please tell me what you think... i totally appreciate your thoughts on the topic and like to have fresh ideas and inputs on setups im kinda stuck in a rut with after months of testing and changing.

Thanks for your time and - of course - maybe more detailed comments on the electribe sampler or not - question.

All the best,
Philip

Have you tried processing your VT3 through your Electribe MPS yet?
Use the Audio In Osc and gate your vocal and process live with some parts dedicated to it with different filters/mod.
You may get some mileage like this,can start practicing right away and no need to think about sampling.
You could also consider a small KP in between VT and E2 if you wanted more sound mangling.
