Korg T1 replacing keys

Post by silcreval »

I have a fab T1 which is in great condition, except for two keys C# and D# in the top octave which broke some time ago and were removed.

I have some new replacement keys and the metal 'springs' but cant see an easy way to replace the key. The key slides in but its tricky to get the spring to stay in place as you snap the key in. I've tried but failed.

Are there any guides to key replacement or keyboard disassembly? The T1 keyboard is an 88 key weighted keyboard and it was used in lots of Korg synths eg the 01W, etc.

By the way the T1 keyboard action is my favorite. Its very heavy but beats anything else (for me anyway). I also have a M3-88 and a Kronos 88 and they just don't feel the same somehow.

Any hints, clues, help appreciated!

that because the kronos uses a fatar keyboard and not the yamaha keybed

when putting the key back you place the spring in the key then line it up with the spring holder first then you put pressure on it rocking back and down into the key holder you also much watch that when rocking it back thay the key plunger is not to far down as it can bend the contact leaf spring
