Is Korg Microarranger a success?

Post by fantasyvn »

Could you pls advise?

I'm thinking of buying a Korg Microarranger as it is portable.

However, as this product was released rather long ago, I don't know whether it has been a success.

Is it still a popular product, or should I wait for the next version?

My sincere thanks,

I'd recommend the PA300. It weighs a bit more but you would have full size keys and compatibility with all the styles from the PA3X/PA900/PA600 series.

I have had the microarranger since it's release. It's gathering dust in a closet. ;-)

Thank you so much.

I would like to have as many styles as possible. But as you suggest, so the Micro Arranger does not have many styles.

I know this topic is a month old but I just found this forum...

Everything Thoraldus said is absolutely correct. And if this was going to be your only keyboard I would take his advice. Find the extra $350 or so and step up to the PA300.

Still, I have found that having the MicroArranger available as a supplemental keyboard is great. Very powerful, plenty of styles and voices and expandability.

Actually the MA's small size is an advantage sometimes (for travel). It's shorter (32" vs 40"), less-tall (3" vs 5') and lighter (10lbs vs 18lbs). I can certainly adapt to the smaller keys when I need to.

The MA isn't the best arranger choice for everything. But for the small size and less money it's a great value.

The Korg Micro Arranger is in a class by itself, and not to be compared with other Korg arrangers. Because its size/portability, I take it wherever there is a chance to have fun. I would not take it to a paying job; for that category I would use the best I could afford.

I have a Pa800, great, love it. But if I wish to go to my neighbor’s home my Pa800 is a bit much. Pa800 –is my serious keyboard. The KMA is my fun keyboard when I am not playing professionally.

In my humble opinion, John C.

PS, Is there anything better for the price?
Styles can be played from the SD card without loading; that equals many, many styles that are available.

I too have owned the Korg Microarranger since it was released. I have used it dozens of time for gigs and the people have absolutely loved it. It did take some time to delete the factory stuff I did not use and replace them but once done it was a real winner.

By the way, John Smies resources for the KMA turn it into an awesome sounding keyboard.
