Anyone using this stool?

Hey guys,

anyone using this stool? On Stage DT8500 Guitar/Keyboard Throne

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0018T ... d_i=507846

If so, do you like it?

(I'm resisting the silly urge to ask for stool samples!)

I prefer the electronic back massager and butt warmer myself... but my solos go too long if I have the back massager running on high.

Thanks for the suggestion, Pete. I have a drummer's throne, but I'm looking for more height. I don't see myself using the back rest, I just want to get up higher. I have a two keyboard rig at church and I'd like to get see out over the music stand. I can't stand up to play for long periods of time anymore. I know it sounds stupid, but years of standing on my left leg while pedaling with my right really bothers my knee.

I use this stool and bought it for it's height.
I sit very heigh at my keyboards and use expression pedals either side, and as a result I look pretty much like a Turkish Hooker with my legs spread wide most of the time.
As an auld Scottish guy with no arse to speak of, I had to change the uncomfortable Round sit down bit with one of those comfy Bicycle Seats drum players use and I have to say, I no longer loose the power of my legs half way thru' a gig.
I don't use the backrest, and contrary to Greg's concerns, you can in fact use the foot rests to attach a beer/wine bottle holder - as long as your audience don't mind the fact that you can mysteriously produce a bottle from between your legs - a neat trick in any language...
If you need height and have an arse - go for it.
If you prefer comfort, I would advise looking at the Bicycle Throne options.

PS - to swap the sit down bits, I simply removed all the padding from the round pad leaving the plywood base and metal attachment and glued & screwed it to the drum throne.
Since your butt print is already on your throne, this is a win win solution.
Hope this helps....

I need the higher type chair. If you do not need ' appearance ' or portability, I find the wood bar/counter chairs at Cost Plus/world market to be useful.

The seats are 22" high with standard back support, which is perfect for me

If you're bar gigging, take a look at the bar stools that are in the various venues. If you find one that's comfortable, ask the club's owner if there's a broken one that you can buy from him. Usually they have a couple, and some of them have simply had the backs come off, lose several screws, etc. Most times, they' just give them to you.

The last time I sat, that's what I did - mine was one that the back was broken off, but otherwise perfect - and it lasted me for eight years.

I used one of these OnStage thrones for a couple of years, and it was comfortable after I modified the backrest (it was too far back from the seat, and the angle was wrong for me)...but I gave up on it because it was too heavy and awkward to move and pack (big and heavy, doesn't fold easily, had to be taken apart to move, etc.)...gave it to a guitar player who loves it, though...

I have a chrome metal one that I think I picked up @ Costco. It works really well for sitting high and has a gas piston for height adjustment (as well as able to spin). It's a shop stool and is adjustable enough to a height that I have you sit on the edge in order to touch the floor.

I'm trying to track down a picture of it, but I bought it for the same exact reason you are looking at them

Dan I use something similar

http://www.quiklok.com/catalog/?p=produ ... ame=DX-749

I like this a lot and its all adjustable. I like it because I have spine problems so I can adjust the back support depending which part of my spine is in pain...

I use a rocnsoc Tower stool tall. Very comfortable not real portable because it doesn't fold down or anything just a tall metal and saddle seat stool.
