Bugs

Post by dcer10 »

A bug that I have had come up a lot recently is that I'll be in any other mode than program mode, everything working fine, then ill go into program mode and the synth won't make any sound. I have checked every setting I can think of but I can't get it to make any sound. If I go back to combi mode it will make sounds normally but I need to turn it off and back on for sounds in program mode. I have checked all volumes etc.

Similarly, often the control surface won't act as expected ie moving the sliders for the page you are on does nothing (regardless of which page), and external midi messages don't seem to update the on screen sliders.

Has anyone had any of these kinds of issues?

dude, this has never happen to me........I'd recommend you contact Korg Service.

This changes your diagnosis, it's not a bug, your unit has an individual problem, it is broken.

good luck and Keep us posted.

I agree with JPWC: this problem doesn't happen here either.
The first things I would check or have checked in such a case are
a) if RAM is fixed properly
b) if the SSD connection sits firm in its place

The only remotely similar thing I experienced the other day was that the vector joystick stopped working on a specific combi in my setlist. It worked fine in combi mode. It also worked fined in other combis in my setlist. Changing the slot around or switching sounds or setlists did nothing. So far, it seems a reboot fixed it. If your problem is more recurring, I would definitely get it checked out by Korg.

Have you tried a factory reset?

I would unplug any and all MIDI/USB cables to ensure something isn't coming in via MIDI that's sending a CC#7=0 when you're switching modes.

Happened to me in a similar way. At all modes the sounds were wobbly (chorus or tremolo effect).

I just figured out that one of my pedal was set in different polarity.

So you might check/reset your GLOBAL settings -> Controllers
and check your polarity.

Hope it helps.

All great ideas, I have tried them all. I have noticed the sliders etc not working consistently in some areas ie in program mode when the sliders are set to audio, they never change the volume of osc 1,2 and dt (this works on my m3). The sliders themselves work for other functions fine. Often in the tone control page (maybe wrong name, the page where you can fine tune the sounds in program or combi mode) often the knobs and sliders won't do anything.

Have done a factory reset, latest os upgrade, checked connections and seating, removed all external connections.

The issue with program's making no sound has probably happened a dozen times, but since I last posted it has not happened again, so I hope that one is resolved.

I have also noticed visual glitches with the on screen controls when I am changing the controls from the control surface, is this normal? I thought it might be another sign of a defective unit?

I made a quick video with my iPhone to show the M3 doing what I want, and the exact same changes on the Kronos not doing the sam thing. The video did also show the same sliders working via the karma control surface on the Kronos normally, so there is nothing physically wrong with them.

Is this normal behaviour ie are they just different? When the control surface does not respond (which is always on the same pages, nothing random happening) I can just select the sliders on the touch screen and change the value with the value slider, but I'd rather have the CS work normally as compared to the M3.
