A thought for Korg R+D Dept

Post by phillwilson »

I realised there is a really large gap in the market to take the lessons learnt from the wavedrum (EDITORS/ GUI) ... and apply them to something we would all buy...

"WAVE TONE" - basically take the physical modelling elements and apply them to scailic instruments.

obviously the showpiece should be a HangDrum sound...nail that and you will get a whole load of people who cant afford the real thing but who would like a better emulation then the Ipad apps / sample packs. ( I know Wave Drummer did an awesome job building it in the old WD but I am thinking of a way to expland on that)

Obvious other instruments inclue marimba/kalimba/sither/plastic pipes/wooden tuned percussion / steel drum etc.

basically anything tuneed that can be hit with the fingers or a mallet.

it wouldnt take much development as the core idea is already there, it would need multiple mic zones to enable more accurate pitching but other than that....we would be in business.

any thoughts?

Look at Impaktor for iOS it does this already, crazy cool waved rum like app that uses the mic input as the waveform source for the synth engine
