M3 drum pads

Can you map the drum pads on an M3 to play drum sounds in softsynths (like NI Battery?)

Yes -- they are reprogrammable MIDI controllers.

You can set them to play chords or single notes/CC -- see p382 of the Parameter Guide. See also p36.
