upgrading

Post by vdrumatic »

Hi everyone, My name is Rick, I joined the forum yesterday. Lots of great info! Does anyone know if it's possible to have the standard silver Wavedrum upgraded with the electronics from the Oriental WD? Thanks...

Well...not "officially."

There have been some efforts on here to hack into the Silver to increase its sound library but it is not entirely clear if the results were legitimate or for entertainment only.

The difference between the two is really just down to the added algorithms, PCMs and loops of the Oriental. The technology is the same otherwise. Just more sounds in the Oriental.

Oh, and welcome to the forum! :)

a full upgrade with extra Oriental algorithms
would need a firmware upgrade from Korg.

so you better ask Korg for this.

At the moment Korg actually asks for suggestions
to improve their products.... no joke

you can read about that here:
(and tell them what you want)

I have a wishlist , too ,
only I dont want to join facebook...

Thank you for your responses... I'll send it as a suggestion to Korg... Aside from the extra sounds, is the sensitivity and responsiveness the same on silver and red.

This needs just a bit of clarification.

Overall, yes, the response is the same, but...

The new algorithms that come with Oriental have an additional "sensitivity" parameter for those new sounds only. So some of those are quite responsive and sensitive, especially at lower volumes and when playing lightly with fingers/hands.

All the sounds that the two have in common (the first 100 Factory Programs) will sound and respond exactly the same.

legitimate ?????
(am I misunderstanding something as a non native English speaker?)

if I decided to makeZ a washing machine , a christmas tree
or an Oriental out of my Silver ,

I doubt , that the KBI (Korg Bureau of Investigation)
could (and would) do anything against that ...

Big Brother is watching ... ??? (I hope so)
not afraid of leaving behind "Evidence"
