Comparison and suggestions needed please!

Post by Mr53rg10 »

Hello!

I'm new here, so, I write in this section. Also, I will ask about different Korg tools so it would be difficult to choose one specific section of the forum.
Well, I need help. Not psychological help, just some suggestions :)
I want to make some crazy stuff.
Look for Ricoloop in youtube, or Dub FX, or Bauchklang. Of course I want to make MY music (many different kind of), but it was just to give you an idea.
I have or am sure I want to have:
1) a loop station.
2) Mic, some percussions, some little cool instruments which make strange interesting sounds
3) Monotribe, I know it's a toy compared to EMX1 but I like it and I can use it in the bus (I have few time and I need to optimize it)
4) Shruthi! Awesome analog monophonic synth which I plan to use mostly for basses and strange sounds
5) A more complete synth with more sounds. I was thinking about a Blofeld plus midi keyboard (which I can use to control the Shruthi too).
6) a real time FX processor. MUST be real time, quick to use on stage. I am not decided yet between KP3 and ESX1 SD.

I need some suggestions from you:

A) which is better for real time on the fly fx processor and sampler? KP3 or ESX1? What can I do with one which I cannot do with the other?
B) I was offered the Blofeld and I saw in youtube some clips and I really like the sounds. But I am also very tempted by the kaossilator pro which I could use both with a midi keyboard or with its screen. And at the beginning I was thinking about microkorg (normal or XL).
Can somebody compare somehow these three? Which one can complement better my lineup?
C) the monotribe can sequence only its own internal sounds or also something which I can connect to its imputs?

:)

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't worry, you will make mistakes anyway, but if you worry they will be more.

Welcome. The reason you didn't get any responses is because this section is only for introducing yourself, not to ask questions and get answers. You'll get better responses if you post your questions in the section that most closely is related to the topic.

Mmm, I understand. I thought this section was for the stupid question of the newbies too.
ALso, I tried to find a right section, but I finally had to write in both electribe and kaoss sections because the question was about both of them :)

Whatever.

Ok, I will now introduce myself a bit more:
I am 36 and since I am 20 I want to make music but I never didi it for many, stupid, lazy reasons.
So, I just can play percussions (not professionally), I can sing overtones (quite good indeed), I like to play objects instead of instruments, and I am quite creative.
One thing I want to do since always is to work with loops and samples.
At that time there were no good units.
Now there are.
I want a boss rc-300 or a electro harmonix 2880, then a couple of synths, a sequencer maybe (or as said, just the monotribe for now. WIth it and the loops can be enough), a theremin. ANd that's it.
I plan to do:
crazy stuff like the German artist Ricoloop
complex beatboxing on the electro house techno style like Bauchklang
experimental athmosphere ambient minimal trip hop whatever things.
:)
Amen.
Don't worry, you will make mistakes anyway, but if you worry they will be more.

Welcome some more, and the most discusson about audio looping is in the Kaoss and Microsampler sections, since these products are most used for that purpose.

Since I'm responding, and I have quite of bit of experience with audio looping, I can make the following brief suggestions.

Look up Beardyman on youtube. He uses a bunch of KP3s, a Kaossilator Pro, and a MicroKorg XL, among other gear for beatbox looping.

Several recent non Korg products for audio looping are the Electro Harmonix VoiceLive Touch and the Casio XW-G1.

Oh you opened new doors to me. As also another guy with the zoom r8 (8 tracks multi track recorder, sampler looper. Now I must understand what to do, the boss rec_300 is 500 euro, 3 tracks, infinite overdubbing, I can stopo all tracks togeter, or one, etc. WHat I want is, to be able to record something live, and overdub on it, possibly undo if I do not like it, or at least if I can merge track I could record the new things in new track and then merge. Then I need to have many tracks (the more the better) and to be able to stop them start them, etc. I am confused now.

The tc helicon is not very good as looper but I am looking for an harmonizer to, to do things like crosby stills and nash alone, or beatles, you know, but not their songs, just live improvisation.
Looking for digitech vocalist live 5 or tc helicon voice live... mmm
