Microkorg XL LFO BPM sync MIDI CC

Post by superpogey »

Hello, does anybody know if it's possible to activate the bpm sync function to the LFOs of a Microkorg XL from an external MIDI controller?

I've been making a control surface on my iPhone with the MIDI Touch app - which is brilliant for opening up the XL on the fly - but one of the things that I can't seem to find in the manual is the MIDI signal that is sent to switch the BPM sync on. I would have thought that it must be possible because you can switch it on and off with the software editor.

Also, is it possible to switch the arpegiator steps on and off with an external controller?

Thanks

If you can send SysEx messages, you can almost control all parameters in the mKXL.

BPM Sync: F0 42 3n 7E 41 x1 00 y3 01 0z 00 F7
n - MIDI channel number (0-F)
x - Timbre number (1-2)
y - LFO number (1-2)
z - Off/on (0-1)

Arp Steps: F0 42 3n 7E 41 61 00 1x 00 0y 00 F7
n - MIDI channel number (0-F)
x - Step number (0-7)
y - Off/on (0-1)

A good tip: in the sound editor, open the midi monitor. (Menu|Windows|Open MIDI monitor window). This allows you to see what MIDI message is sent when tweaking a knob in the editor.
