80's Pop/Rock set Vintage keys
Anybody know where I can find sound sets similar to Yamaha Motif 80's Pop Rock sound set list or the Vintage keys collection that use internal Pcm NOT samples ?.Please don't make smart remarks like " Make them yourself " If I had the time or skill I would but not everyone knows how to reproduce a sound or more importantly have the time it might take to do it....reproducing sounds it's an art in itself and that's one art I'm not good at at all...if the Motif is capable of reproducing some very famous classic sounds I'm sure King Kronos can do the same and probably even better ...anyone

Wow that second one is HANDS DOWN the best aftermarket patch set I've ever heard for cover band guys. He has a second set too.lunaluna wrote:Anybody know where I can find sound sets similar to Yamaha Motif 80's Pop Rock sound set list or the Vintage keys collection that use internal Pcm NOT samples ?.Please don't make smart remarks like " Make them yourself " If I had the time or skill I would but not everyone knows how to reproduce a sound or more importantly have the time it might take to do it....reproducing sounds it's an art in itself and that's one art I'm not good at at all...if the Motif is capable of reproducing some very famous classic sounds I'm sure King Kronos can do the same and probably even better ...anyone

As a Motif Owner, I just might get them. Thanks for the heads up!
Would love to see stuff like this for Kronos.

Re: 80's Pop/Rock set Vintage keys
I liked those so much that I bought a Motif XS6 just so I could buy those patches and then sample several of them into my Fantom G6 for live use. There are a few clunkers in there, but overall it is very good.NuSkoolTone wrote:Wow that second one is HANDS DOWN the best aftermarket patch set I've ever heard for cover band guys. It is always the most convenient way if something you can use well is offered as complete package. And I really hope that there will be many packages of that kind for the Kronos (which has all engines for producing such sounds in first class quality).
But if someone is after some of these sounds already now, there are two ways open:
a) reprogramming with the Kronos engines. This requires some programming skills, more for some patches and few for others.
b) simply resampling. This is really great about the Kronos, that you are able to get up to 8 (or 16 with both oscillators) velocity samples into it, for whatever you want or need.
Since the Kronos is such an open and flexible system, you will always get most of what you want into it one way or the other.

Unfortunately, it's a lot more complicated than copying parameters. The synths are very different and the wave ROMs are different.kbrkr wrote:I refuse to sell my Motif XF because of these two libraries. These patches are awesome. I know it's just a matter of copying the parameters for each program into the Kronos, but who has the time. If some enterprising individual did this for the Kronos, they would make quite a few bucks.

They may be nice, but NO bank, for any Motif, puts the real synths and VAs to shame. In the end they are just samples from real things at best, and nothing more. Enjoy them anyway.Chriskk wrote:Check out the Vintage Key Voice Bank for Motif. It has some of the coolest 70's & 80's synth sounds that put the real things and VAs to shame.

Why buy a Motif when you can buy a single VSTi that does better for a fraction of the cost.

Me too. I'm runnig it on my X-R and Mediastation. God I love playing AXEL-F on the darn thing.

I use and like that plugin too. It's the best analog sounding synth VSTi around for my ears, and especially the way it delivers Oberheim synth sounds is simply stunning.

I don't know why, but I always hear a "disconnect" using VSTis. They just have no weight to them. These are no exception. While they sound pretty good, they just can't touch a hardware synth IMO which includes a Motif.Sharp wrote:Why buy a Motif when you can buy a single VSTi that does better for a fraction of the cost.

Oddly, given the Kronos is many parts a VSTi, it escapes this for the MOST part. Though I still hear it a touch. Not enough to bother me, but with the MS-20 and P6 engines it's definitely there to MY EARS. I really am dying to have my daughter's friend come by with his P6 to compare. Maybe someday!

open architecture - host VSTi's
I love the OP-X II.
On my "Rockstar" wishlist for the Kronos is the ability to host third party VSTi's. Now that would be open architecture synthesising.
