sequencing

Post by melcart »

Hi,

Anyone help on this one: I have created a sequence initially using quick record to create the backing sequence and then adding other bits in full sequencer mode. Am I correct in thinking that there is no way I can overdub addional backing bits using quick record without it defaulting to bar one and overwritting what's already done. If so then I guess the answer is either to use copy or paste functions on repeatable phrasing or export the song to an external sequence editor to assemble the final product. I've also tried assigning backing tracks as separate songs in order to merge them - but this is not possible either. If quick record had an overdub at selected bar option like full sequencer mode does then this would be truely versatile.

Hi melcart,
You are right about not being able to overwrite or overdub selected part of your sequenced song using the quick recording method. It is for quick recording only and there is not any provision to do that. Pity.

Try to do something what I did, small changes in my songs.
First I have recorded and completed my "quick song" entirely, including the chords and intro, variations, ending, stops etc. using the Step recording and saved it as a SONG.
After that done I called it back into SEQUENCER and recalled it into the Multitrack Recording Mode ( the first from top ).
Now I wanted to change eight bars somewhere in the middle of the song, say bass (or any, or all ). Delete the unwanted bars using the DELETE function. Not the CUT/INSERT function, that will only shorten/ lenghten your song.
After that I used the punch in/out function. There is a setup from/to measure and I manually recorded my ideas into those now empty measures. Everything I wanted, track by track.

However, I have no idea how to import and insert some other existing bits of music or patterns into those empty measures. I am working with this keyboard for only 3 months and I am learning as I go.

Simply put again - create and complete your song in Quick Recording and try to edit it in Multitrack Recording where you can use all the functions available.
As soon as I will learn better ( or different ) ways of doing this I will let you and others know.

Cheers
Johan

Hi again,
I just read your post carefully again and you probably know everything already. O.K. , take it easy, maybe some others will need this.
