No sounds at all from my beloved Trinity Plus [SOLVED]

Post by dd4v3 »

Hi all,

just to know your advice and hopefully have some hints.

Since this evening my beloved Trinity Plus 61 is mute! No sound at all! :(

Neither from OUTPUT 1+2 nor from Headphones.
Completely mute!

All other functions are ok, display, touch screen, sounds selection, Combis, Programs... but no sounds come from the instrument anymore.

I played it last thursday and it was fine. Just turned it off and left in the studio for almost a week.

Hope someone can give me an help.

Thank's for now, regards

Dave

If you're still showing voice names and values it's not the battery - another cause of sudden silence.

There are some known problems with the Trinity's output amp stage - something on the board that takes out the whole she-bang - the give away clue here is that the headphones are non-functioning as well as the regular outs on the back. If your local tech has been around a while he'll just say, "Uh-huh" and tell you to bring it in, knowing already what parts to order.

---- NOT user fixable, unless user is a techie -------

To find out more I suggest you use the search tab above and look for key word output or headphones and see if you can find previous posts for the same problem.

Luck,

BB

Do you have a volume pedal?
I had already forgotten to verify the pedal volume is not to 0...

Hi,
thank's for posting.

Just another hint: connecting an external Keyboard via MIDI (External Keyb MIDI OUT to Trinity MIDI IN) the Trinity sounds correctly!

Hope this could help someone fot the right suggestion...

Best regards

Dave

EDIT two minutes later:
I've resetted the Trinity (ENTER +0 while turning it on) and (magically) it started sounding again.
The problem is that none of the programs and sounds are there anymore.
Is it just a matter of reloading them from scratch?
Thank you guys.

Dave

What are the chances (blame the cat) that someone could have been messing with your board while you were away?

Sounds to me now like your Local Control may have been set to OFF. This function is used to disconnect the Trinity's keys from its synth engine - trust me there are times when this is a good thing - but if you don't know it's been done you just think "Dead Board" and go into panic mode.

I hope you had your onboard sounds backed up on diskettes. Otherwise you may not be able to recover YOUR stuff -- you can always download the Trin's factory disks from the download section here.

Hi, as I'm quite new to the Trinity I didn't know of the "Local Control" function! :?
I guess that this has been the cause... I'll investigate on my daughters

I had no backup but my sounds were absolutely standard. I'll download them from the section of the forum and let you know!

Thank you all.

Dave,

Since you're new to the Trin, best advice I can give is to pick up a copy of Trinitro. This is a shareware librarian for Trinity that is well designed, non-buggy and (I cannot emphasize this enough) a true God-send when it comes to organizing and moving patches around on the Trinity.

One advantage of getting a vintage synth like the Trinity is that there are hundred of banks of sounds to pour through. A librarian program like Trinitro lets you sift through the haystack to find the golden needles that lurk there, then lets you organize, juggle, customize, and SAVE them on your computer.

Happy hunting,

Hi BB,

just followed your hints and downloaded Trinitro: it worked like a charme! :D Many thank's!

By the way I happened to discover that my Trin's Floppy Drive isn't working anymore... that's a bit of "Murphy's law", isn't it?

Anyway problem solved, reloaded all factory preset using Trinitro. :D

Now I can start digging my Trin with Trinitro!

All best

you had local off obviously. someone was playing in the global sectiohjn and shut it off. that means the keys will not play the trinity but another keyboard with midi connected to input will. BE CAREFUL LOADING PCG'S GLOBAL SECTION. they arent always setup the way you had it. reverse sustain and so on. i suggest loading only the pcg bank data.
