motif xs synth

Post by brandon »

hi all, i would just like to know what everyone thinks about the synth sounds of the motif xs. i've heard that they are "dull" when compared to the korg m3, but is that just the programming? or is the synth engine just not as good as korg's? if it helps one of my main interests is lead sounds (big fan of derek sherinian type lead)

thankyou

What keyboard are you currently using? I own both the M3 and Motif XS and for the most part, prefer the synth sounds in the M3 over the Motif. The Motif's real strength is stellar acoustic sounds "out of the box."

However... with some tweaking, the XS can produce some great leads and very "analogish" pads. It's all in the hands of the programmer.

well atm i've got a nord electro 3, i sold my korg m50 61 to raise funds for it and i also felt like i was going to break the keybed. i'm now looking for a replacement for it and i am considering a motif as i can probably get one for a good price but i really don't wanna miss those awesome synth sounds :D

I recommend playing both the Motif and the M3... then decide.

I don't find the XS dull, more that the M3 is excited, I tend to prefer the korg sound.

the XS is excellent and little rock or pop rock sounding.

the M3 is more modern sounding to me.

They make a great match, I think the Fantom is somewhere inbetween.
