Another OS update problem
I'm having a problem updating my OS. It is currently 1.0.8! I have looked thru the enire blog to make sure I didn't miss something hopefully! I hold down the locate/enter keys prior to turning on the Triton (Classic). It just goes straight to the default combinations mode. Somebody let me know if I got it all wrong!

OK, my board is 11 yrs old, and I had to play with buttons, but I got it to finall y ask me for system disk. I got a read error message and it asked me to insert system disk one. I copied the files, not the folder to the floppies, labeling each one. Is it the floppy, or operator error? Any advise would be highly appreciated! Thanks!
Wow! I got it to read the disk just enough to erase the rom , then read error, so now I got a big paperweight!!! I REALLY need help now! I feel like I should have just left it like it was! Please help I am on deadlines Thank you!!

Right now my locate button is not working, plus when I tried to install 2.5, it said "erasing rom" then " checking something" then "read error". When I tried to cut the board off and on, blue screen!! So...we opened up the board because the locate button has now failed! That why I wish I had kept the original os, I've had that board over 10 years without really needing it! Now I got a big silver rock in the shape of a piano! I think I'm screwed!

if you did everything correctly, then i don't understand why it's causing problems..the only thing i can think of is prossibly one of the floppy disk was damaged that's why it gave a 'reading error'..dunno ??...i would tell you to try the procedure again with fresh/new formatted floppies but the locate button you say no longer work..a qualified repair im afraid is your last option!!!
but, first.
if i were you, i would try the triton initialize/reset procedure (hold down enter + 0 when powering up) you never know ?...initialize may restore the locate button function... http://www.tritonhaven.com/faq/index.html#2_5_
then, turn off the triton
then, do the OS upgrade again with NEW formatted floppies
http://www.tritonhaven.com/faq/index.html#3_ <----(read 3.6 and 3.7 very important!!!)
try it. the triton may not be a paper weight afterall...
*if that doesn't work, take the triton to a professional authorize korg repairshop.

Ok, my partner has got the 2.5.3 os installed. Now he's not get any audio out or in. Not even the headphone jacks work. The touch screen is beeping when you select menus, and it says "2.5.3" when you first cut on the board. WOW! Combination, Program, and Sequence mode all do not produce any sound to the audio main outs. In Sample mode, the meter are not showing any signal coming in. There are good solder connections on all the input and output jacks. No sound! It this an easy fix or a professional repair, and if you know, how much might that cost be?

i got terrible news, dakar..your triton is dead, D-E-D.....dead!!!
nahh, im only kiddin'..
no sound is normal. after performing a initialize sound programs [pcg] have to be loaded back into the unit..all you need now is the triton classic "factory preload" disks and you should be all set!!! as for sampling level metering, there is an input knob behind the triton to control incoming levels..maybe that knob is turn too far down to get any signal check it and see.
