Problems installing the driver (nano pad)
Alright, here's my problem. I had a korg nanopad and loved the product, installed everything without problem. Well after a while, the pads messed up and i bought a new Midi controller from a different brand. I deleted the driver for the nanopad through my computer and installed the new midi controller. Anyways, i didn't like the new midi so i bought another nanopad (this time with a 2 year warranty incase the pads mess up again). Anyways, i tried to install the driver again for the nanopad and half way through the installation it says "Problem with windows installer" or something like that. I contacted Korg support and they said it had to do with how i manually deleted the driver instead of doing it through Add/remove programs and uninstalling it. Anyways, i was supposed to get contacted back from them, but it's been over a week or so now and they still have not e-mailed/called me. I am sick of waiting, so i was just wondering if anyone on here had the same problem and if they got it resolved. Please help, i love the product, and i want to get making beats again.

'Problem with Windows installer' mmm so someone from Korg helps you with a 'Windows' problem and you are 'sick' of waiting for another response....? have you considered contacting Microsoft about their 'Windows' problem? I guess not... and I bet if you tried you wouldn't get very far.. but hey Korg are an easy target and it's easy to dis us all on here for not helping you more.....
You could try downloading the latest version of the windows installer, Depends what OS you are on but the XP one is here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
just search for windows installer and your OS in google. I think there is also a version 4.1
Another thing you could try is running a good virus scan. Its difficult to say from here, but a lot of viruses do take out the windows installer to stop you from installing antivirus etc. And you don't always notice that you have one (often just having norton isn't always enough).
For daily scanning I recommend AVG, you don't need the paid version. most of these expensive products have more features that clog up your PC that you never actually need.
but for taking out specific problems, you should try malwarebytes and super anti spyware (definitely takes out more than just spyware), one of these doesn't use the windows installer to install, so thats handy. Just can't remember which
both of these are fantastic but don't have daily scanning schedules (at least not for the free ones), you'd have to run it manually every time you need to check. which is why I's recommend AVG for daily scanning.
of course, you may benefit first from just trying to install something else that uses the windows installer (an .msi file), just to see if that works.
There are other fixes for a number of windows installer issues but they are all complicated. you could try an in-place repair with your windows disk for example.

Re: Problems installing the driver (nano pad)
Why on earth would you do this? Manually removing a program is one thing (though I still wouldn't recommend it if you don't know what you're doing, don't know how to remove entries for the program in the registry, etc.); mucking around with drivers is a recipe for disaster. Wipe your computer, and don't blame Korg for the fact that you chose to do something in a non-standard way without you knowing how to deal with the side effects of your actions.snowgoonsky wrote:they said it had to do with how i manually deleted the driver instead of doing it through Add/remove programs and uninstalling it.

how did you remove the driver exactly? what steps did you take?

Whoa buddy, what's your problem? I called korg and they said that the problem would need to be anazlyzed by the engineers over in Japan, and they said within a day or two they'd either call/e-mail me. It has been over 2 weeks or so now and still nothing. I even tried to call them back and they said to keep waiting. I was not complaining about the Korg company in general, just their slow response time. Thanks for the advice to everyone else. I will try to download the latest windows installer and see if that works.
