Bad sounding notes on Stereo Grand 4-Way 1 EX3
Hi!
I just bought a Korg M3 88 and i'm really impressed so far.
However the first patch you get when entering program mode (I-A00 Stereo Grand 4-Way 1 EX3) have 3 notes that sounds like they've been filtered or something, just listen to the example here (Listen to the 3 middle notes, Bb4, B4 and C4). Sounds like an electric piano or something.
Is this on purpose or what? I haven't explored all the settings yet, everything is from factory, and other piano patches doesn't have this problem. Maybe some fellow M3 owners can check if this happens for you?
It's annoying when i do ma chromatix exzerices!

If this is the same problem as above (sorry i couldn't load your recording), try reseating the EXB-256M in its socket. So far, this has worked for me. 9 times out of 10, this sound worked fine, but then every once in a while, out of nowhere i'd get this weird sound in just a small range in one velocity of the piano.

Thanks for the answers.
I haven't got the RAM upgrade, i think the EXB pianos where installed by default. It isn't the same problem as the thread you posted, my problem isn't as bad and it's more like it has to do with the samples.
Try downloading it from rapidshare here (Listen to the 3 top notes), there's a clear difference between A and A# and again between C and C#.
I was thinking maybe there's some settings just to these 3 keys or it's something wrong with the samples.
You think i should reload the samples into the M3?
I'm listening from studio headphones so i can hear it very well, although from media speakers you can't hear the difference that much.

Hey what are you taking aboutRob Sherratt wrote:Actually the EXBPCM samples (all of them) are very nice. If you are not getting good sounds then it is most probably a fault with the EXB-M256 RAM module, perhaps like Gargamel314 said you have not inserted it correctly?

Well I won't try to defend myself against nasty remarks like this because I think my track record on the forum and the Karma Wiki site, plus Karma Forums, plus my work with Irish Acts recording studio speaks for itself.harmonia wrote:Hey what are you taking aboutRob Sherratt wrote:Actually the EXBPCM samples (all of them) are very nice. Several other people with EXB-M256 did have a problem with sample playback and it was traced to a faulty EXB-M256 module in one case, and a badly seated EXB-M256 module in the other case.
If you really don't like the EXPCM03 pianos, then load the EXPCM04 pianos into your 64 Mb RAM instead together with the alternative PCG configuration from Korg. I assume you won't want any help from me on how to do it because you know it all already, right?
I've also noticed the exact same thing. I think there is something wrong with the samples. Not only do the notes sound tonally different, but the stereo field doesn't sound right either.ORIGINAL: Whiskan

I've also noticed around the 8th octave a couple notes don't dampen well. It's obvious when playing staccato.
Good to hear i'm not the only one, haven't got rid of it yet.WDI wrote:I've also noticed the exact same thing. I think there is something wrong with the samples. Not only do the notes sound tonally different, but the stereo field doesn't sound right either.ORIGINAL: Whiskan

You don't notice it that much while playing just if you start to listen for it.
