Do I have the wrong Operating System?

Post by Bobster691 »

HI!

I am new to all this so please excuse my ignorance...

I have bought a Triton Classic from Ebay. It has an apple sticker on it. Now I put a disk of midifiles into the drive (It was a bought disk) and it read the disk and played the files ok.

I then bought a single midifile from the internet and put it on my new floppy disk on my PC and the Triton won't read it.

I then put the same file onto the bought disk which worked before and now the disk won't read in th Triton.

The software version in the Triton is 2.5.1 so I downloaded 2.5.3 for the PC from Korg.com. Started the Trton with locate and Enter only to be told it was the wrong Media - Insert System Disk 1. The files were put on freshly formatted HD disks from DOS.

I then tried formatting the disk in the Triton but then the PC would not recognise the disk so I couldn't put the O.S onto the disk.

Thia is driving me insane...... What is the solution?

I have tested the Disk drive in the Triton and it works fine....

Thanks for any help!!

Will this be solved by downloading the files to a mac? and then using the disks in the Triton?

Or should the Triton recognize a PC or Mac OS when pressing the Locate & Enter buttons?

The floppy disk should be able to be read by any PC floppy drive without issues. What it should be the problem is different head alignment between your Triton's drive and your PC drive.

I suggest you get a new PC drive (if you can find one) and try to format the disk on the PC and read on the Triton, or vice versa.

You can also try brand new disks. I was having the same issues with my former board (a PA 50 arranger). This time it was the disks I where trying to use that where all bad. A new box of diskettes and everything worked fine.

Hope it helps
