An update, really, to my 17Apr post.
It turns out that the cause of that problem was a piece of debris that had fallen onto the ic board. There was also some soldering that had to be done, perhaps related. Another argument for keeping our keyboards as clean as possible.
In this case, the cost was $480, about what a basic TC is worth now. The technician thought at first that the problem was stuck or sticky buttons. Turned out not to be the case. The reason for the high cost was that the solution to each diagnosis had to be tested on its own, which involved putting the case back together and trying it out. Something the tech had to do 3 times. He described the process as a minor nightmare.

The only solar-powered TC and, now, EXTREME on the forum? The planet?
That's too bad - I think he screwed you on the bill. I must have torn my Triton Classic down about 10 times when I was working on the CF drive mod. Takes about 5 minutes. If it was a PITA for him, I wouldn't go back to him because it's a simple matter of removing a bunch of screws on the bottom of the synth ONLY. After that there's only a handful of system boards screwed to the top side of the case. It's a VERY easy synth to work on.
