im back 2 esx 1 still kill an akai mpc i know because i bought an akai mpc 500 when my esx chip fuse blew an service dept said it would be 2 to 3 months for repairs. i bought the akai mpc 500 and the yamaha rs 7000 because im a gear slut and cant stand to be without my music.
i now see esx is easier to use editing samples slicing assigning samples.the mpc 500 is sitting in its box its annoying im scared to use it because it seems to have a lot of bugs still loosing your songs so i scrapped it the rs 7000 is only thing close to esx1 its just its sampler section sucks when matching samples to bpm so my esx1 is in shop and im going to use it with the yamaha rs 7000 when i get it back gave 1 esx 1 to my nephew as a birthday present and then my only esx died on me bad luck i guess but it being down really made me see what i was missing and i now will always keep 1 on hand my mpc who knows.

I always considered the RS7000 Yamaha's answer to the MPC. I've always wanted one based on what I've read/seen on the net, but haven't experience with any. What is your pro's /cons of the RS 7000. I too would be incorporating it with my ESX of coursemike pepp wrote:im back 2 esx 1 still kill an akai mpc i know because i bought an akai mpc 500 when my esx chip fuse blew an service dept said it would be 2 to 3 months for repairs. i bought the akai mpc 500 and the yamaha rs 7000 because im a gear slut and cant stand to be without my music.

ESX-YAMAHA RS 7000
you can do pretty much everything an akai mpc can do on a rs 7000
u just have a few work arounds.the rs for one has hundreds of synth sounds,2 hundreds of drum sounds the sequencer is just as good as an mpc 16 tracks per pattern then 10 pattern variations (sections)for that pattern example-pattern 1 =16tracks+10variations(sections) of that pattern stored under pattern 1 that you can chain together to form a song .its a hard learning curve like most equipment but sooooooooooooo worth it.I fly on this thing now in pattern chain mode it records your mutes into the track so when im mixing a track you can drop out parts either by midi note or by audio.used with the rs 7000 its a great combo i used to use my esx 1 with the yamaha rm1x which is the yamaha rs 7000s baby brother which is also a great machine (no sampler) the sampler on the rs 7000 is great until you have to sync your samples to beat per min the pitch control sucks slicing on its great normalize it has a master eq so you dont really need a mixer its 3effects master effect and seperate master eq has midi delay to add another effect seperate from others resampling its like a motif in a box-really combined with the esx-1 it would be a beast i got 64mb ram for 9bucks on line and 6 output expander for 150 which i dont even use u have eq hi and low on every track so my advise if u get it use esx sampler for samples you need precise pitching on use rs for storing drums making synth samples to play which its great at you know short samples on rs7000 long ones on esx-1 searchfor rs7000 forums on line they really help and i hope this helped its a these things have as many knobs as esx-1 can record all knob movements into track like esx-1 motion sequencing without wearing out your esx knobs and now scsi for samplers.com has compact flash kits you can get for rs so no smart media if you dont want i myself have crap loads of sm cards so i dont mind hope you got something out of this the old mpcs are the best to me so much easier the mpc 500 sucks sucks it slows creativity too many bugs i may hold on to it a few years to see if they get it right or it might be a collectors item but use it nah

I Fondly remember the day i bought my ES-1 back in 2001. I originally had my mind made up on getting an RS7000, but came short on cash.
So I swung with the ES-1 and I havent stop using it since
But im seriously thinking about buying an RS7000 again, now that i have a few bucks to spend....Like you said, it would go well with an ESX.
