One really annoying thing missing from every synth I've played since the DW-8000 is the ability to have a button to go from poly to mono and vice versa. Right now you have to go into the patch and edit it to do that.
I need that function live and have found no way to do it. There's all sorts of crazy stuff you can set SW1 and SW2 to. Why no MONO or POLY?
I'm not asking for the ultra cool ability to stack all voices like the DW-8000 did (my most missed feature), but just the ability to assign SW1 or SW2 to make a patch mono/poly for a quick chord or solo or something.

you can do most of what you mention in combi mode. thats the whole point of combi mode, it makes things that work with more voices easier. you just need a bit of more clever programming..
I don't have an M3 so can't go through details but for example, in combi or SEQ mode you should be able to stack up 4 or 5 timbres of the same sound for a massive sound. similarly if you have a mono and a poly version of the same timbre you can switch between them...

For those who need it, there are a couple of ways. Certainly not as handy as a dedicated switch or at least the ability to control it as a control destination but its there.
And it all happens in combi mode:
1.
You can edit and save the same program as two. One poly, the other mono.
Then, in combi mode, you can make a split and use them in the same time. The combi mode is the one where you make your setups for gigs and staying there is the fastest way to achieve what you want (instead of switching back to the program mode for that one program which you want to use in poly/mono mode).
2.
Once you have two separate programs of the same sound but one set to poly, the other to mono, there are a couple of ways to crossfade between them in combi mode.
One way would be to control the effects volume with the sw1 or 2 (for example the EQ as an insert effect). It can be programmed in the way that the switch sends volume 0 to one sound and thus turning it off, while the other is preprogrammed with volume 127 and thus sounding, while the sw would turn it off.
Another way would be to control the volume of both layered sounds in combi mode with the display. It's somewhere described. By pressing the upper corner of the display one program would sound, pressing the lower corner the other.
It depends on the sound, but there should be a possibility even in program mode by controlling the osc level and filter cutoff with the sw. There is a violin as an example how to do it where you press the sw and instead of the bowed string you hear a pizzicato.
So, options are there. Not as handy as a dedicated function, but it can be done.
Once you program your combination for that kind of function, you can simply use the combination for all other sounds where you need this function by just exchanging the programs within the combination and storing it as a new combi.
