midi out problem on new OS 2.0+2.1
Hi friends,I have a problem.I play midi songs not only on my PA 800, but I need to send some old midi songs from PA 800 sequencer to another keyboard and I use sysex data for setting this keyboard. On OS 1.O-1.6 no problem. After installing new OS 2.1(OS 2.0) there are no sysex data send from midi out. In Global midi all filter are set on off. What's wrong? Do you have the same problem? Now I'm back on OS 1.6

Yes,on OS 1.6 works everything fine. You know, I need my second keyboard set for live playing with a help of sysex messages .With sysex I get on this keyboard a sound set for my left and for my right hand . I think,it must be some bug on new OS in midi out filters I said,I'm back on OS 1.6. Midi out sysex works now fine but there's another problem with DK user drums. I saved my drums on OS 2.1 and then I tried load this on OS 1.6 but on display is message NO PA FILE. What now? I wish to work with OS 2.1 but with sending no sysex messages it's not possible. Thank you for your replay
Hi Rob,I have a lot of midifiles with sysex messages. It helps me make a sound set on my Roland keyboard for live playing together with PA 800. For example: I need strings or orgel or something else for my left hand and piano or another sound for right hand(performance)At the start of midifile are short sysex messages and I got this performance on my Roland keyboard very fast. It's very important for me to get sysex from PA 800 midi out.
I saved sysex data from my Roland keyboard. I prepared some performance on it and then i saved this performance in form of sysex messages. You can save then milions of this Roland performances in form of sysex messages. I pushed always ,,write performance button'' and then i received this sysex messages to my sequencer.

Hi Ex,
Please can you explain how you are writing performances on the Pa800 in connection with SysEx on an external keyboard?
On the Pa800, "Performances" are combinations of 4 sounds and EFX for use when playing on the Pa800's keybed. The sounds are specified as Korg proprietary bank and PC numbers or you can use only GM sounds and thereby send GM program change numbers to an external device)
I fail to see how SysEx has ever been involved in connection with "Performances" on the Pa800.
On the Pa800, MIDI files are loaded via USB sticks and are played in Song Play mode using one of the two song file players. In Song Play mode, SysEx messages stored in MIDI files can be played back via the MIDI Out port under OS2.01.
Many thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,I talk about performances made on Roland not on Pa 800,and this Roland performances are saved in form of sysex in my midifiles. I change with sysex data sound set on Roland not on Pa 800. I have midi connection between PA 800 and Roland and I use both sequencer of PA 800 and i need send sysex to Roland. On OS 1.6 there is no problem, sysex changed performances on Roland but with OS 2.0 or 2.1 nothing changed. I think, sysex are not send from PA 800 midi out with OS 2.0 or 2 .1 Thanks for your interest in this problem. EX

Hello Ex,
OK that explains the confusion beteen the same terminology used in different contexts by different manufacturers. However this is a Korg forum, so let's assume we are actually discussing Song Play -> Record and Song Play of MIDI files recorded live.
Did you already check the status of Sysex filtering on both MIDI In and MIDI Out?
Is it a recording problem or a playback problem? You can check the Midi file using either a PC sequencer or midIOX.
Best regards,
Rob

Hi Rob,I'm sorry for my english,it's not easy for me.There is not recording but playback problem and the problem is on Korg Pa 800. The problem is on OS 2.0 and 2.1 made by Korg.Midi data played by PA 800 sequencer and send from midi out to another keyboard are not complete!!! I know all version of OS made for Korg Pa 800 since first one(OS 1.0 ).I play 2 years all my midifiles (including sysex data) on both PA 8OO sequencers, with connection to Roland ,and never had this problem. But now ,after installing new OS 2.0 and later 2.1, send Korg sequencer no sysex data to Roland keyboard. All filters in global midi in and midi out are set on OFF. I tried to reinstal OS 2.1 to OS 1.6. On OS 1.6 works it correct again. The solution for me is stay with OS 1.6 Good-bye new OS. Best regards EX.

That's a definite maybemacboy wrote:Rob, whatever the answer to your questions are: if he only changes the OS and it works again on OS 1.6 and back to OS 2.1 it doesn't work, there must be a problem in the new OS right ?

Changing from OS1.60 to OS 2.10 involves many changes to Global settings and personal configuration also ...
I have several MIDI files on my Pa2x OS2.01 which include SysEx data on the lead-in. When I play these on my Pa2x connected to my PC via standard MIDI cables, the SysEx data is transmitted.
Hence I don't agree that we can conclude there is a bug in OS2.01. Something else has changed as well but I don't think I can sort it out over the internet. I need to have the keyboards with me, run MIDI-OX on the PC and see what is happening. It's too hard to do on the forum.
Regards,
Rob
Hi friends,I connect PA 800 through midi cable to my computer.I install OS 1.6 and i make no changes in Global setting but to set midi filter 1 out and in from sysex to off.I start playback my TEST.mid on sequencer 1 and I make record on Cubase SX 3. Record has all.Notes, control changes.PG changes and SYSEX!!!! I install OS 2.1 an i make no changes in Global setting but to set midi filter 1 out and in from sysex to off.I start playback my TEST.mid on sequencer 1 and I make record on Cubase SX 3.Record has notes, control changes,PG changes but NO SYSEX!!! ,,Fast play function'' was always off. Why Rob can record(not save) sysex data on computer and i can't??? Best regards. EX

Question for anyone else, just to confirm or deny whether there is a "bug" ....
Please could you take a MIDI file which you know contains SYSEX data at the start. Then can you play the MIDI file on your Pa2x/Pa800 running OS2, and connect the output via a MIDI out cable to your PC running the MIDI-OX analyser (it is a free download).
Using MIDI-OX can you please confirm or deny that SYSEX data from the MIDI file is sent to the PC?
Best regards,
Rob
