Arpeggiator Hold (Latch)

The arpeggiator-usability is kind of smart & innovative
...BUT can somebody please tell me how to HOLD the arpeggiator WITHOUT pressing the ribbon controller all the time? This Arp-Function is called on most other synths as LATCH-Function.

The manual tells something about keep pressing SHIFT with the ribboncontroller so the arp will not be retriggered when releasing the ribbon...sounds like what I'm searching for BUT that does not work out when I try...known bug?

Hopefully someone has a solution for an ARP-LATCH, that would help enormously using the arp in a 'freehanded' live-arp-situation...
