syncer

Post by sewa »

Hi,

I have had a lot of free evenings and this is what I've been doing:

hi-fi URL: http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplaye ... 80784&q=hi

Its another tune featuring my new moog, Radias (bass sequence and drums), Virus, Motif ES and Roland JP 8000. The song is rather long (nearly 6 min.) but I believe its consistent throughout. There is a transition where one might thing its not going anywhere but then it regains focus IMHO. I would be grateful for your comments on that.

Again, I include a poll to facilitate the reviewing process

I think this one was quite cool actually, it put me in a movie-theme kind of mood..
And I like that kind of snappy rythm, guess that's the Radias...
And, it didn't seem that long...well worth the try on this one, and probably a good choice to let it fade out in the end... :verycool:

Regarding the caracteristic tune that breaks in, it may be a little too much dominant (or sharp, excuse my english, not my native tongue), even though it wasn't that to me, I believe it may be so to others?
If I would do anything different here, I would probably soften it down just a little bit, maybe on the volume, not the sound-construction itself.
Poly Evolver keyboard, KORG Radias. KURZWEIL K2600S, NORD-MODULAR, KORG D3200, DOEPFER MAQ 16/3 and a bunch of pedals...It's all gone, so now I'm starting over, but with virtual synths.

Soundconstruction going on...

Thanks Futurline :)

having listened to it couple of times I think the mix needs improvement. I record everything as a single audio track due to my setup, which is Behringer 1204 mixer and Audiophile soundcard. For this tune I might go the extra lenght and record each track separately. I've been listening to one of Daz songs and man - does he know how to make most of his mixes...

Your gear list looks promising. Do you have audio files somewhere on the net?

Hi Sewa!
It would most certainly benefit you a lot more to record it track by track, but I liked the overall idea you had there. :D

I haven't put out my tunes on the net, I'm working on a project which gives me some headache at the moment, and I haven't decided if I want to put that part out on the net, in the near future. :)

That, and the fact that work takes most of my time makes it a bit difficult to proceed with all the ideas, and keep them alive...but, it IS work in progress..

I'll post something here when I'm satisfied with the results, and it will most probably turn up on my soundclick-page.

And regarding the equipment, I really like the stuff I have, the only thing is that I would prefer the DSI - PolyEvolver with knobs, meaning the keyboard-version.

The next thing on my list (or wishes) is the BoomChick drum-machine, and the Prophet 8, and of course one of the old K's (Kurzweil), just love the sound of those.

But, it may take a while to afford it, have a big trip coming up next year, so I'll have to save all my money for that.

That's a cool track Sewa.
It really needs more punch tho. Seems way to krisp.
Add some mid and low end to fatten it up. Bass line really needs more base :)

Good stuff :)

Funny that you say that :) I deliberately cut the low frequencies because my mixes tend to sound muddy on my home stereo as well as in my car. They sound fine on my monitors but the trouble is - everything sounds fine on my monitors

What is your monitoring setup BTW?

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro Head Phones (on those everything has too much bass lol.)
and Sennheiser HD 650 Headphones

Cyber Review:

First off, I like the way this guy takes his time and develops the music, a well thought-out composition.

Good sound quality from each instrument.

Nice tasty lead-lines.

A professional work of art.

Cyberdude says Syncer is cool to excellent.

Hi sewa,

It has been a longtime since I've had the pleasure of your tunes :-)

This one is way cool - I would expect to hear it on XM's satellite radio over here.

Regarding the transition - it seemed more like an interlude to me - I liked it as I always favor non-standard stuff used to spice it up. The tune went by fast - every time I played it :-)

Good to hear new tunes from you - and that your indulging !!!

Cheers,

={> Art

PS - I agree - a bit more bottom end would be good :-)
