Bad replacement LCD screen for M3

Post by Jokeyman123 »

Not even a year ago, I needed to replace the entire M3 LCD screen-not just the touchpad, but the entire screen, although the touchpad was also bad. I ordered a supposedly "new" LCD from a Chinese vendor-didn't seem anyone but the Chinese had these. The screen is already failing and according to my tech, this could not have been new if it failed this soon, this is the type of malfunction that only occurs from an aging screen-the backlights are failing but it was still readable-I thought it did not look as brightly lit when "new" as even my old broken LCD had appeared. My tech is now assessing what can be done-just a warning-if you need a new screen, be careful who you order it from. the Chinese vendors are notorious for counterfeit merchandise, and selling used items as new. This is not the first time I've had a problem. Had I known of a more reputable source (Korg does not sell these to consumers AFAIK) I would never have ordered from this vendor-who in small print describes the screen as "90%" whatever that means, at the same time claiming this screen was new. Hopefully if it needs a replacement my technician will have a better source than I did. When I get the old screen back-I will be posting a complaint with eBay-the source of this vendor-and with the seller, to be sure others are aware of this, if it proves to be an old screen sold as new. This is out and out fraud, and unfortunately these vendors seem to be in great abundance on eBay and Amazon. And this was not an easy install, i was lucky someone has a Youtube video showing how to dis-assemble the Korg M3 in order to replace the entire screen. To have to go through this again-I think I will send the repair bill to this vendor, and a copy to eBay.
