Hello Ross,
maybe you made an operating error in the style editor, because extending a fill from 1 bar to 4 bars works as I described:
the "fill" elements of the current style are changed in the style record to a length of 4 bars instead of the existing length of 1 bar of CV length and Rec length.
The additional bars (2 - 4) are then changed to the intended MIDI events and, if necessary, to a selected cue mode. The style must then of course be saved with these changes before leaving the style record mode. Without changing the MIDI events in bars 2 - 4, you only get a repetition of the MIDI events of the first bars in each bar of this fill element.

During playback, the display "M" shows the continuous bar of the current style element, so that an activated fill -4, -3, -2 and -1 is shown in the display before changing to the first bar of the variation, which is shown with 1, 2 ....
If a
style is selected but not yet started, the "M" in the display changes to "L" and thus shows the length of the style element - in 6/8 Pop Rock this is 16 bars for each variation, as well as different lengths displayed for the intro and ending elements. The length of the fill-ins is 1 bar in the original, or 4 bars after modification as intended.
If the display shows L:4 bars for the fills, then these fills are also extended to four bars.

Your information about the "M" display is unclear to me, as the "M" display shows information about a current bar of the element or a running style, the set cue mode and the trigger point of fills, intros, endings.
Example:
If a four-bar fill-in is triggered in the seventh bar of a 16-bar variation with a cue mode of "Next bar current bar", then the display of "M" starts with -2 and -1, replacing the 7th and 8th bars with the fill, and then switches to the first bar of the variation. The fill replaces the last two bars of the current bar after the 6th bar and then changes to the next bar (M: ... 6, 7, -2, -1, 1, 2 ....).
If the fill is triggered with the same setting in the fourth bar, then "M" only shows -1 before it changes to the first bar of the variation, because the fourth bar of the variation is replaced by the last bar of the fill and then changes to the first bar of the variation (M: = . ..3, 4, -1, 1, 2, 3 .....)

Send me an email address via PM and I will send you the 6/8 Pop Rock with fills of 4 bar length whose content (Midi events) can be changed according to your personal wishes, because content of fill bars 2 to 4 per default are repetetions of bar 1.
