Numerous Attempts to Install 1.2.0

Post by icecoldrocker »

After numerous attempts using a computer OS that will go unmentioned here

(because I do not need to hear the PC vs MAC argument)

to download and install the 1.2.0 update and getting no update files found

I used another computer OS to download, drag and drop and the update was installed.

You can try with PC or MAC but for some reason that will be a mystery to me is why is why are there files on KORG . com that when one downloads and drags and drops then inserts the USB drive into the port NOTHING was found on the drive.

It definitely has nothing to do with your computer's OS as those files are identical no mater where you copy them from. If I'd make a guess, it is likely caused by an incorrect file system on your USB drive. In order for Nautilus to recognize the USB drive, you need to format it with the FAT32 file system with MBR partition table.

There are specific upgrade instructions supplied within the update zip file. These need to be followed to the letter. Basically, unzip the downloaded archive file, then, using a blank FAT32-formatted USB flash drive, copy the whole folder and file structure to the root of the USB flash drive. The root directory view should look something like:

Manual (folder)
mnt (folder)
bc
DisplayUpdaterMessage
.
plus 6 other files.

One of these is the NAUTILUS_Update_1_2_0.tar.gz file. Do not untarball this file.

Proceed with the update sequence, from the Global menus.

There is a PC vs Mac vs "other OS" argument here, because different systems might be setup to handle archive files differently, vis-à-vis extracting the zip, and the subsequent folder structure that is set up during the extraction/copying process.
