Wavestation EX RAM card issue

Hi;

I got a Wavestation EX and although the ROM cards (in the program card slot) work just file, I was not able to make any RAM cards work.

I get an "Card not formatted" message when I insert and when I try to format from Global>Util>Format I get "Battery low (Card)" error message. I checked several batteries and cleaned the slot with WD40 electronics contact cleaner but the problem persists.

Can anyone comment?
