registations

Post by keith-helen »

Hello to every one
I watched the latest Webinar and found it helpful.

My problem is as follows

I would like to start my style with variation 1 with accom 1 muted and the rest unmuted. I know how to do this. What I would then like to happen is to touch variation 2 and have accom 1 unmuted.

Working in songbook I have created and saved my song. I saved the setup to variation 1 in songbook above and saved at each point. Whilst in Variation 1 I make the changes to the accom 1 (unmute ,change the volume etc) and save to variation 2' and press 'write' at all the appropriate places, however when I go back to the main style page and press variation 2 it has saved the changes in variation 1as well
Am I doing something wrong, do I need to save this as a separate song ?
is it not possible? I would appreciate your comments.
Best wishes and stay safe.

When you save variation 1 with accom 1muted, this track will be muted also for the rest variation, because Somgbook saves mute/unite status of the track per whole style, not per variation.

Hallo Keith,

You must save it as a separate songbook entry.

Hi pawlikp100 and Ben

Many thanks for your quick response. I thought that might be the case.

I will check out the PA Manager (I have had the programme for ages and never used it) I suppose that is the only benefit from this Covid thing.

Again many thanks

Save to Songbook, then

Try setting kbd set 1 in the Style as you want it.

Then with kbd set 2 the same voices with the muted voice now unmuted.

Make any ither changes you want then Save

Have the Style to Kbd Set light flashing.

Play the song and when you press Var 2 the 4X will automatically switch to Kbd Set 2

Let us know if this works for you.

go into style record to edit current style and press menu-element trk control. then shut the expression level of acc1 on variation 1 and save.

Mute/unmute StyleTracks

It is a solution, but this has the disadvantage that you cannot switch back the muted tracks of variations of the style to the original playback tracks without duplicating them or re-editing them.

This is also not possible while playing, unless you have an expression controller that works exactly on the muted channels.
*
It is one methode to edit the intended tracks in the variations not with expression , but it is much more efficient assigning an <Empty> sound (pcg) to that tracks you want to mute and then save the style.

These with <empty> sound quasi-muted tracks appear in the track display with the sound <Remap> and are inaudible, because no audible sound program is linked to them.

In order to be able to play these tracks again as with the original sounds, now edit the style performance of the style outside the StyleEditor and reassign the originally sounds to the quasi-muted <remap>-track and save this style performance.

Now with "OriginalStyleSounds" marked style you can play your variations with the inaudible tracks. If you want to hear its original sounds as before, simple press unmarking "OriginalStyleSound" and change between that different possibilities as often as you mark/unmark "OriginalStyleSound".
*
For variant styleplay not only "OriginalStyleSound" feature is suitable ever since Pa-arrangers exists, but seems to be little used and known, and also unfortunately wither with the appearance of each new model series because of reduced style-functionality.

As a style player, I am therefore very pleased that Keith Lawton addressed the topic of differently muted style tracks with his posting.

Thank you, best wishes and stay safe.
kind regards

Always be wary of lowering either volume or expression of tracks to mute them...

They are still using polyphony even if you can’t hear them.

.. and is an additional argument to better use an empty pcg for muting a style track without having to forego to unmute this track of the current running style again on demand
