Alesis Vortex Wireless 2

Post by tunaman »

Anyone here running the Vortex 2 with their Kronos? I always liked the idea of a keytar since they first hit the scene, but never bought one until now. The Vortex seems like it would be a fun addition and allow me to interact with the other members a little, and since I now have the Kronos the possibilities seem endless.

I’m curious whether it will sync wirelessly via the onboard adapter, or whether I’ll need a WIDI solution? I spent several hours searching the webz and YT, but didn’t find an answer.

I see that there are some decent WIDI solutions out there, so it appears that the tech has evolved if that becomes a necessity.

Mine is scheduled to be delivered today, so I guess I’ll find out for myself in a few hours or so, but I figured I’d check with the collective here as I expect some of you may have taken this path already.

Oh joy of joys... the WIDI is plug and play! I inserted the dongle, installed the batteries, and it played my MIDI organ part going to my TEX without having to configure anything.

Here's a similar idea that worked beautifully: Converting my Kross1 to a keytar. I got 5 octaves of full size keys, with multiple splits, battery powered, under 10lbs, and one of the coolest looking KROG's ever made. https://youtu.be/I7YHznSAEYY
