1.4mb DSHD (Double-Sided, High-Density) floppy disks are useful and cheap. However, no floppy disks are needed as long as you have Trinitro and a USB MIDI interface. Unsure about saving/loading songs using Trinitro, though, I think it's possible but I've never used it for that purpose as I only ever tend to use Trinitro as a patch librarian.
You mention a zip file, you will need to extract the zip to the raw PCG and SNG file(s) before Trinitro can load and transmit them.
2)Can I even reset the system without the original disk or do i even need to reset it?
Unsure what you mean by reset. You only really need to reset the Trinity's system if something goes badly wrong or you encounter a software bug, for example, which is rare. But no, you do not need a disk to do a system reset. You hold both "Enter" and "0" keys while turning the Trinity on and it will carry out a system reset. You will lose all programmed patches in doing so, though, so you would need to reload a PCG afterwards to load patches back into it.
However if you mean a software update, then yes you need floppies to do this. You cannot do this via Trinitro.
The latest OS version for Trinity V3 is v3.1.2. You can tell what version you have when you switch on the Trinity, it will show you the OS version on the boot screen as it boots up.
3)Does the sound save to the internal memory or does it have to save to the disk and only work when the disk is inserted?
The Trinity has a volatile internal memory and a battery, which means as long as the battery is ok, your programmed patches will be held in memory after saving, although it's always wise to save precious patches to a floppy or via Trinitro so you always have a back up.
Songs will not be saved to internal memory, though. You will need to save/load these to floppy (or Trinitro?) every time you work on one before powering the Trinity down.
The raw multisample waveforms themselves, however, are always held in memory as they reside on the chips.
