Adding a 2nd SSD, do I have to format on PC first?

Post by KronosEnthusiastXT »

Hi,

I bought a 2TB SSD and long 90cm sata cable to install on my Kronos as I'm planning to buy lots of sound libraries and do other stuff in the future.
Can I just install the drive and let the system do the format or I have to pre-format it on PC?

regards, Patrick

No need for PC. Format SSD in Disk Mode.
Make sure that the SSD containing the OS is connected to the SATA0 socket, while the new 2nd SSD is connected to the SATA1 socket.

2 TB ? Thats massive.

I recall reading a post or 2 about the OS handling up to 500 GB.

I can't be sure there is thresh hold. Just a potential or its my faulty memory :D

A boot drive has limits.
1TB secondary SSD can be formatted, no problem.
2TB ? You should be able, but have anyone tested ?
There could be some limits too ...

Generally, larger SSDs are faster.
So if you can format 2T SSD, let us know.

Is it also possible to use an external (USB) SSD instead of a second internal one and store ones sound libraries on it? And to load them from there and play programs/combis?

I can confirm the 2TB SSD upgrade is working and formatted with no problems.
