Sound of silence

Post by Kiddo »

First of all, thank you if you decide to spend even 5 secs on this case with me !

Here's the thing : I bought an arranger for the first time, a Pa 500 from someone here in Tunis a few months ago. I had issues from the start as I can't seem to choose and play the sounds on the keyboard when I want. I know it's possible, cause the former owner showed me. I can sometime make the keys work but most of the time, the keys just don't make any sounds and they don"t get recognized as midi info in my Daw neither. The pitch knob works fine though. WHEN it works, it works from the moment I turn on the arranger.

I did read the manual and started in easy mode...ALSO, the former owner took away the on / off button on the keyboard, so you have to unplug it. You do with what you find in this country :)

Does anyone has a step by step process please ? Or could give me a clue ?

Cheers

I'd strongly recommend to reinstall latest software and reset the machine to initial status.

Thanks, but does that mean that all the new sounds will be erased ? They are part of the reasons i bought it.

Also, do I need to buy the software or can I just find it on Korg website ?

I don't have your keyboard but you could work this out by comparing the default factory sounds in the manual to those currently in the keyboard.

Would certainly be sensible to bak up the current USER data first.

Hey there !

So I bought an 4gb SD card (could not find 2Gb) in order to save data and restart the system. But the machine does not recognize it...

Any help here ?

Thanks but it still says Card with a "?" and I can't even open it. It goes "Device not known or unrecognized format". When I press format, I get this :

The card is this model (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Team-Group-SDH ... B004B4DD2I).
Please, this is really annoying as I can't even use the thing as a midi keyboard dammit :x

Can you format it on your PC? (I think it has to be FAT32)

Hi Pete,

I just did using this http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index. ... format.htm. It still doesn't work...
But I realized I bought and SDHC and not SD which is nowhere to be found here, could that be the reason ?

Try a different card - it could genuinely be corrupted - check it out on PC first

BUT maybe the PA500 does not accept SDHC... I don't have the manuals any more.....

SD for Pa500

With Pa500 you only can use SD Memory cards of earlier generation, that was developed before SDHC. SD are an improvement / derived over MultiMediaCards (MMC), that has become the industry standard for the time used in Pa500.

So do not try to use high-capacity SDHC but try to get SD between 8MB or maximal 1GB (SD 1.0) or 2GB (SD 1.1) and format with FAT (FAT16); good experience you will get with 512MB-cards (also with MMC-Cards).
kind regards
