Seek SONGBOOK File with Corrected Song Titles

Post by scottyee »

I recently purchased a Korg PA1000 and love the dynamic full sound & styles, and powerful Korg OS. Especially appreciate the Songbook feature for song organization & intuitive access during live performance. The chord sequencer feature is another standout for live performing.

I'm interested in obtaining a SONGBOOK file which replaces
the PA1000's factory preloaded SONGBOOK's cryptic song titles with the real song names.

In addition anybody know where I can get other PA1000 compatible SONGBOOK files with an even larger database of suggested songs?

Looking forward to reconnecting with old friends here and meeting new Korg arranger owner friends too.

Scott :)

Hi Scott!!!
Great to hear you got a Korg my friend!
I have not seen a corrected list of Songbook lists, but there may be one.
I had a PA900, PA3X, PA4X (which I still have) and I have a PA1000 that will arrive Tuesday.
The more you get into the Korg, the better you will like it!
Give me a call sometime!

Biggles: Thanks for the link.

I downloaded the files and it contains the following:

pa1000 Songbook CORRECTED.SET (Master Folder)

01.GLOBAL (Folder)
Limiter.aud (file)
MasterEQ.aud (file)
MIDI.Mpr (file)
QtPreset.qtp (file)
Setup.gbl (file)
02.GUITARPRESET (Empty Folder)
03.KEYBOARDSET (Empty Folder)
04.MULTISMP (Empty Folder)
05.PAD (Empty Folder)
06.PCM (Empty Folder)
07.SongBook (Folder)
SONGDB.SBD (subfolder)
Bank01.Sbd (file)
Bank02.Sbd (file)
Bank03.Sbd (file)
Bank04.Sbd (file)
Bank05.Sbd (file)
Bank06.Sbd (file)
Bank07.Sbd (file)
Bank08.Sbd (file
LISTDB.SBL (file)
08.SOUND (Empty Folder)
09.STYLE (Folder)
USER01.STY (file)
10.VOICEPRESET (Empty Folder)

Ok, I've now got the above "pa1000 Songbook CORRECTED.SET" folder including subfolders and files copied onto a USB stick.

Can someone provide 'step by step' instructions for replacing
the factory Songbook with the Songbook with corrected names one? Is loading all the other folders & files (data) required too?

Hi DonM. Great to see you here too. Only had my PA1000 for a few days now and it's impressed me beyond expectations and trust you're going to enjoy yours as well. I had initially considered a Pa4X but heard rumors a Pa5X may be forthcoming sooner than later so opted for the ultra portable compact with built in speakers PA1000 till then. My only wish is Korg doesn't have a PA1000 compatible SongBook Editor (windows software) yet. Anybody know how much longer before they release a PA1000 compatible version?

Don, thanks for the phone call today. 8) Great catching up, and thanks for explaining how Korg automatically creates an entire keyboard set of sub-folders even when you simply only need contents of one specific folder, in this case the SongBook folder. That said, I inserted the USB stick with the folder named " pa1000 Songbook CORRECTED.SET" and pressed the Media button, and then navigate to the Songbook folder to easily load the updated Songbook files only. Attempting to load 'ALL' data is not advised as it would update all other settings (global, etc) and might produce undesired keyboard sounding results. Unless there's something I'm missing here, I would think a better way to archive SongBook files would be to simply include that Songbook Folder alone instead of including an entire keboard set. JMO. I agree, but that's the way they do it. :)
Glad you are on board and seem to be picking up the OS quickly. I would have expected nothing less though.

Hi Scott, I also have recently purchased the Pa1000 and am delighted with it. The onboard speakers are powerful and good enough to use on their own in smaller settings, which is a great help to me. I had some feedback problems with my headset mic for a while, but worked through it.

Enjoy, I know you will make it sing!

Biggles, thanks for that helpfpul vid tutorial link. :)

As a PA1000 newbie, I also found the following Korg PA1000 Video Tutorials invaluable to get me up and running quickly. Well paced and clearly explained and shown by Steve McNally :verycool:

There are 10 Volumes, starting with this one. Each succesive YouTube clip will load after each volume is finished playing.

Hi Praise:Great :verycool: to hear you were able to get your headset mic issue sorted out. I got a handheld mic and experiencing no feedback issues but would like to eventually consider getting a headset style mic. Which wireless(?) headset brand/model do you and others recommend as ideally compatible with Korg arrangers?

Hi Scott, I use the Countryman e6. I like it's minimal appearance, although unfortunately I do find I need the wind screen. I like the mic close to my mouth, part of the way I have been able to avoid the feedback issue, and so it is more prone to breath noise.

I used to have the omni-directional version, but on my last trip to San Francisco I took it into Countryman and had them convert it to directional, and use the hypercardioid cap.

A lot of what I do is talking and the Countryman is ideal for that, but I am also happy with the way the Korg adds effects and harmony when singing (and then automatically changes back to Talk when the music stops, love that!).

I have tried quite a number of them, including the high-priced ones.
I have settled on the Shure SM35-XLR for those times when I need one.
Problem is that most all of them require phantom power and the 1000 doesn't supply it, so you would need a small phantom power supply in line. They are quite inexpensive though.

I forgot to mention I use the Shure PGX-D Digital system with the Countryman mic. Here are pictures of my setup today.
