Oscilloscope screen glitching

Post by jeeja »

Has anyone else had an issue with the oscilloscope screen glitching after 15-30 minutes of playing? I just bought a used Prologue in "Mint" condition from Reverb, but this is what happens to the screen after a short time playing.

I've updated the firmware. Still not fixed. I can't seem to find others with the issue so I'm guessing it's hardware related. :(

You didn't mention the Voice and Panel updates. Did you also update the Voice and Panel? If not, read the PDF that came with the update download. It's at the end of the file.
HW: Model D (Original) <> Prologue 16 <> OB-6 <> Prophet REV 2 <> Minitaur <> Sub37 <> Slim Phatty <> Integra 7 <> SE-02 <> Korg Triton Le <> Korg synths I have owned: Poly 800 - Poly 800 MKII - M1 - Z1 (miss this one)

SW: Nuendo and too many soft synths to mention.

Oh wow I totally missed that part of the update. I checked and sure enough my Voice and Panel needed updates. I'll see if it glitches again.

Do you happen to know what the Panel update was said to have fixed? Were there known glitches before the update?

All I can remember now is that one of the updates did change/improve something with the display.

I see the oscilloscope glitch when I am using a voice with the arpeggiator. When it is on and any keys are held down it virtually freezes. Once you release the keys it works normally. As I said only noticed it with the arpeggiator, enabled. Not a major problem, more of an annoyance. The Minilogue oscilloscope is so smooth by comparison.

Super glad I found this post. Exact same scenario. Bought prologue in mint off reverb from Noisebug. Here's a video of my screen glitching like yours.

Glad you found it too! Yes that's exactly what was happening with mine.

Since I updated the Panel firmware I haven't had any screen glitch issues. :o

Just in case anyone has trouble finding how to update the Panel (as I did), download the System Updater here for either Mac or Windows. In the package file you'll see the Updater app, but FIRST, open the PDF instructions. In there you'll find all the steps for updating your System Firmware, your Panel Firmware, and your Voice Firmware.

If you just got the Prologue I recommend running ALL 3 updates. It'll likely fix any major bugs you're seeing.

Hope that helps somebody.

Sadly, the latest update does NOT fix all major bugs.

The biggest issue is the tuning issue (see other thread). It is completely unsolved, concerns lots (if not most) Prologues, and makes the synth more or less unuseable for recording and live play.

And Korg Japan has not shown the decency of at least communicating with their customers, feeling commited to guarantee to fix that problem for all buyers, one way or the other. Instead they completely ignore their Prologue customers, and keep public silence since months!

That's not quite the behavior I expect from a company with with Korg's good reputation.
