I don't know if this has been observed before, but there is a technique for re-mapping the key zones in multisamples on the X50/microX.
This can be used to vastly improve the X50 piano patches. The "St.Piano" multisamples are plagued with samples that sound terrible when summed to mono (or when only one channel is heard). By re-mapping the samples, you can get rid of the bad samples and stretch the surrounding samples to cover the holes.
The trick is this: the transpose parameters shift the note played and the key zones with it, while the tune parameters shift the pitch across the zone boundaries. So if you transpose up a whole step, and also tune down a whole step, you end up shifting the boundary where the multisample switches samples.
This can be done within a "program' or a "combination". But you can get much more mileage out of it in a combination.

Here is a Korg X50 Editor file for a single combination that uses the "StereoPiano mf-f" program. It assumes you still have that program in location A001. Of course a lot more can be done by tweaking the parameters within the program, but loading this one combination patch into your X50 is a quick way to get a substantial improvement in the basic grand piano sound.
