Update

Post by cvanselman »

I've been using Roland gear for years, most recently the RD800. One of the things I miss when using the Kronos is the ease of setting up a layer or split. Especially 'on the fly' when rehearsing or gigging. For live use my main 'go to' is a Nord NE5 so that I can tweak as I play.

The Kronos is a fabulous keyboard but not stage freindly and this update goes a way towards making that better.

So well done Korg.

I will load the update and investigate a little. I'm hoping that we will still be able to use the 'control' section for quick edits. I use this a lot to tweak the organ drawbars when playing and like to have a piano layered with this using the expression pedal to control the organ level so I can bring it in over the top of the piano when wanted.

Watch this space.

.
I think you are referring to the Nord electro. The Rd800 is a stage piano
Both have a nice ( but not huge) variety of sounds and are designed for quick stage use.

I don't believe either has the depth of 9 sound engines like the Kronos. Neither
is a workstation.

I am not clear if you are drawing a comparison.

The Kronos is used by many pros on the stage. It is getting even more
stage friendly with 3.1

I have the original Kronos. Just wondering how these slower processor machines handle the new OS. Any noticeable increased sluggishness of operations?

The CPU is only very, very slightly slower anyway.
