Electribe2 sampler sequencing MS20 and blofeld

Post by krypt »

Hello,
my name is Peter, i've been doing electronic music for a while. I joined this forum to learn more about the machine which I own since few days and plan to use it massively in the future. For now, there are some doubts / unresolved questions. If I double the topic, please close it. If you could point me in direction where my questions have been answered - I would be also very grateful.
1/ can I sequence Korg ms-20mini with e2s?
2/ i have problems sequencing waldorf blofeld - basically all tracks/patterns/sounds send midi signal to blofeld. When I am playing a kickdrum, it triggers also signal in blofeld. They are connected only via midi. Can I separately sequence blofeld independently from e2s sounds? And then also sequence some samples to build a track live?
3/ Can I sequence them both simultaneously (Blofeld and Ms-20Mini)?
4/ Can I plug in midi keyboard to electribe in order play the external synth via keyboard and also sequence it via e2s?
5/ when I load my custom samples, they are very low-volume. Do you volume boost your custom samples? I feel like the standard volume for factory samples is much higher... I wonder what could I do to swap samples and e2s wouldn't be so quiet?

P.S.
In order to have all blank patterns should I import the custom file?
Many thanks for empty databases of samples and patterns. It really saves a lot of time.
Do you use external editors to manage samples, or do it by hand in e2s?
I saw some software editors.. seems very good. (operating on Win).

Cheers,
Peter

1) should be able to if it has midi in (I think its on channel 1 for default)
2)Is it on omni channel (all channels)? if it i,s set it to a channel 1- 16 corresponding to the sequence on the es2 (1 - 16 pads)
3)yes if I'm correct on the 2 previous answers (I control the radias, mininova and microkorg all simultaneously)
4) No, its a real shame though :(
5) Go into sample edit and go to the user sample which you want to increase the volume, go to play level, change normal to +12db

Yes
And I use a sample manager if I'm loading samples in bulk :)

Happy jammin'

Many thanks PurpleSpaceMan for your answer.

1) if anyone could confirm it, i'd be very grateful. I am planning to buy ms-20 to use it with es2 and blofeld
2) Could you explain a little more about omni channel? I have very little experience with external gear and midi seq.

Could you recomend any sample manager?
I wonder if its better to do it by hand or via manager.
I need only 50-100 samples to operate. Could I swap the factory samples with my samples, and delete the rest of them via this sample manager software? I hail the rule the less is more so any extra/additional samples just make me confused.
Thank you again,
cheers!

So with normal midi hardware you get 16 channels, so for example if you had keyboard 1 (aka master) set to channel 3 and keyboard 2 (aka slave) which you're controlling with keyboard 1 set to channel 3, keyboard 1 will control keyboard 2 however if keyboard 2 was channel 4 or 5 it won't be controlled. The omni setting on midi is accepting all midi messages from 1-16 channels.

What I have going in my set up is the electribe being the master (controlling all the other sound hardware) and the radias, microkorg and mininova being slaves, the radias is on channel 1, mininova is on channel 2, and microkorg on channel 3. So the pad 1's sequence on the electribe is controlling the radias, Pad 2 is mininova, Pad 3 is microkorg.

Look at the index (at the top of the electribe forum) for the electribe sample manager, you don't have to load a previous file, it makes one for you. :D
