i5s defective - help with repair

Post by Lindsay20 »

Hi everyone!

I recently took over my Dad's old i5s keyboard and was just starting to really enjoy playing, when suddenly the keyboard shut down by itself. Ever since, when I press the power button, I can hear noise coming from the speaker, but the LCD doesn't even light up and neither the keys nor any of the buttons on the keyboard seem to work.

This might be nothing more than a broken circuit that can be easily fixed, but I'm just guessing and have no experience in repairing Korg keyboards (or any keyboard, for that matter).

Have any of you experienced the same defect on this model and do you have any tips as to how to repair this?

I'd like to try and fix this myself before paying a lot of money for repair, seeing how I don't play that much, so it might not even be worth it.

I'd really appreciate any help, though. Thanks a lot in advance!

Not sure where you are located, but most keyboard repair centres will provide a check-and-quote service - might be your best bet, however if a new part is required it may be a problem.

Best of luck - let us know how you go.
