Mr. Mister Kyrie: bass sequence latch?

Post by Maristokeys »

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to tweak the Kronos' Kyrie preset into a patch I can use live. In the preset the arpeggiated bassline was done with Kronos' AL-1 and it's step sequencer. Changing the notes to fit the song was easy enough. The problem is that there are two different basslines in sequence and I don't know how to keep them locked in tempo.

Has anyone ran into a similar problem? I created a patch with two identical AL-1's, split them and programmed in the correct notes for both basslines. I can get a pretty good performance by setting the patch to mono and playing in time but I would like the part to have that machine like precision. Now, I have a few ideas where to go from here:

1) Create a Karma GE that triggers notes to play for the length of the bassline which is one bar. I'm very new to Karma so I'm not sure how to do this.

2) Disable the patch's step sequencer and create two custom GEs with the bass notes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've given up trying to sequence that bass line. I now just play it live with my left hand. It's not as difficult as it sounds. Playing it live helps when the lead singer comes in at the wrong time, which ours does frequently. :(

I'm sorry to hear :D That certainly takes care of the problem but I would still like to find a way to do it as a triggered sequence. So far I've pretty much left Karma and the sequencer untouched so this seems like a good reason to look into them.

Have you tried RPPR? If you have a drummer involved he will have to be able to lock to the clock. I used RPPR for for "Hella Good" by No Doubt & the drummer couldn't lock, so it was a lot of wasted effort.

I messaged Busch and he hinted that the Sweet Dreams preset had SW1 switching between two different sequences. Thanks to him I was able to figure out a solution:

Apparently you can have a Step Sq. and a Common Step Sq. running at the same time. Then you can use AMS 1 and 2 to switch between them on the fly and voilà! Problem solved :D

Thanks for helping, guys!

A singer who comes in at the wrong time? (Gasp) say it ain't so! That's impossible!
