This sounds like a serious problem.

It could be the OS, so first try a full reinstall of the (latest) OS with musical resources.

If that doesn't help, it could be a hardware issue.
Of course your instrument is under warranty, so you can go back to your reseller and have it fixed.

Ik hoop voor je dat het meevalt, succes ermee! ;-)

Songbook Problem campatibility

Post by 400nvd »

Hi all,
Today i collected my new Pa4x76. I'm very happy with it.
I tried to import my songbook entrees from my PA3x and discovered it does'nt work for me.
I mostly use my PA in a cover band and after each songbook entry i have the needed registrations and an mp3 or midi or sty.
During our gigs i only need the registrations but during our rehearsals i can call for the appropriate mp3 or midi or sty as an example to follow.
Now i can load all the registrations in the PA4x but the resource files (MP3 etc) are not found thought the are in the same subdir as on the PA3.
The songbook editor is not compatible with the PA4.
I have 350+ songs to reënter/program manually again.
One of the reasons to choose the Korg PA is the facility to connect it to my iPad and select the needed songbook entry with the iPad in a second.

Hope the new songbook editor comes before i did all the programming again. I should have wait until that was issued. But i was probably a bit to enthusiastic.

Any of you would have suggestions for a work around? Or does nabody knows what type of database structure is used in songbook?

I feel sorry for you; I've been through the same process when I stepped over from PA800 to PA3X.
I did some warning for this in other posts, but maybe you missed them.
Of course it's a shame that the Songbooks are not automatically synched / converted when you make such an expensive purchase (2015!)

It will keep me from buying a PA4X for quite some time I guess... although it sounds great, that's absolutely true.
The database structure is... welll... old school. The Songbook feature is great though!

Thanks Fransman, i.ve seen your earlier messages but i did not forsee the problem as i experience now:

When i load my PA3x songbook entree(s) i cannot reassign the proper resource file to it. So i can have the needed performances/keyboard sets but as soon i try to reassign a resource file (midi or MP3) to this entree, it only allows for an new songbook entree.
Hope a solution come soon

It's absolutely ridiculous that the songbook from a previous model simply can't be transferred into a new model by way of a USB stick. I mean, how long has this been going on?

This one 'roadblock' is a continuing major annoyance and inconvenience which, if it were given proper attention by Korg, would make the decision to buy a new keyboard so much easier. Surely they must have heard enough complaints about this by now, or are they simply ignoring their customers?

Really, who looks forward to having to build their entire songbook from scratch every time?

Paolo, can you tell us what Korg is doing about this?

Hi,

The new SongBook Editor is in beta. However, I'm sorry to say that I don't have a release date, yet.

Pa songbook transfer

Post by Keymn »

I went from a pa1x to 3x. Had to redo all my songbook, one song at a time. Fortunately we were limited in the pa1x to around 300 songs because the SSD. Now with an installed 500gb HD in the 3x, I have over 750 songs and counting. Upgrading to 4x would be a nightmare! Yes maybe a quick transfer to a new model is a good thing, but feel the newer models could have better styles that may be named different. So in my opinion, do one song at a time. You will not regret it. I see better audience response on my styles played with pa3x which I once played on the 1x.
After over a year on my 3x still go back to my songbook list and sometimes edit it or change it to an improved style.
