Yes... all the more reason to audition one.

Can't really compare K2661 with PC3. PC3 has 16 arpeggiators, riff function, and a lot of inspirational potential. I just turn the board on and play, and something new always emerges.
While touchscreen on M3 is nice, I wouldn't say nothing negative about PC3's screen. It's menus are fast and most of all, LOGICALLY sorted out, so even if there is menu diving (there is also some menu diving on M3, you can't deny that) it's going smooth and fast.

Still cant make the decision... DAMN!
Help me guys...
I might have to buy the PC3x and M50 for the M3 sounds... seems like the only way out, but then I would be a gear junkie = (.

Since I don't care much about orchestral sounds in my opinion only advantage of Kurzweil PC3x could be better implementation of riffs - in M3 you can use RPPR only in seq mode and have to program dedicated riff/pattern for each midi channel/track however on M3 you have karma engine, which overcompensates that small riff/pattern implementation disadvantage

The primary thing for me is the sound... I dont really need anything else than the perfect sound =).
If u need the perfect sound, then u might need oassys or yamaha motif xs and i will explain why...
Oasys stock sampleas are at 24bit/48 khz how ever as far as i know , i might be wrong it cannot load samples with this resolution, how ever with Motif xs u have the oposit things..
it's stock sampleas are at 16/44 khz and it can sample only at 16/44 khz, how ever u can load to ur Motif xs samplease up to 24bit/48 khz..
With korg m3 and roland fantom G as far as i know u cannot use 24 bit samplease....
In conclusion.
U can get not bad sound sound right out of the box from M3 and probably it will be lest costly wworkstation out of Fantom G or Yamaha Motif xs but
If u looking for the very best sound probably at this time it will be better to go with Motif xs, how ever Motif xs prices are still hight, while Korg M3 prices droups. but also if u want to get 24 bit samplase with motif xs first u must expend ur mamory atlist up to 1 gb or better up to 2 gb.
Then u can buy some 24 bit libraries at Yamaha web store. but Yamaha offers limited libraries like that, so u will have to look else where to buy 24 bit samplease libraies , and it will more expensive but the final result will be outstanding

Neither are the stock samples on the oasys 24/48, nor can the motif xs load 24/48 samples.

Uhm, by perfect sound I dont mean it has to be ultra high resolution.
I mean it has to sound good.... The sounds must sound good, be playable and the synth has also have nice character and FX section....

I've got an M3, Kurzweil K2661 and a Motif XS in the studio... and like I said before, the M3 is the first keyboard I'll go to for practicing or writing a new song. It's the most appealing and playable keyboard for me.
The KARMA feature offers a great deal of inspiration for the type of music I write. It doesn't take long to find exactly what I need in the way of a sound, rhythm or drum track.
How many workstations have you actually played so far?

The samples on the Oasys are 16 bit samples at 48kHz.
The Motif samples at 44.1kHz max and at the usual 16 bits. I never heard from anybody that loading 48khz samples is possible on the motif xs. And especially not at 24 bits.
Can you point to a link with information about that?

I told this befor,Motif Xs original samplease are at 16/44 khz,
I told this befor,Motif Xs can sample only at 16/44khz.
but u can use up to 24bit 48 khz samples with motif xs if u will load them in Motif Xs format, not in Motif ES format couse it works only up to 16/48 khz via USB card in to mamory
I am sorry i don't have any link with will prove something, because i don't have any video camera but i can show u libraries with 24 bit samples yamaha sells.

I would suggest making a trip to test both out, even if it costs some money to do so.
Kurzweil, Korg, Yamaha, and Roland all make products that have some good sounds in them. I used to own a PC2Rack and I still own an M3-M.
Sound quality is VERY personal, and only you can really decide which product's overall sound palette is best for the music you make.

Can you describe the sound of kurz vs korg?

I hate workstations, stop.
I voted for Korg because I learnt using a workstation on the M1, and did bvery little effort when upgrading to the 01/w then the m3, which I use just for some basic sample-based sounds and for recording.
And because the last time I used a Kurzweil unit (K1000) I had to crank the amp volume up because its D/A converters sounded like something from "The Miracle Worker". Dumb, deaf and blindingly bad. When they didn't threw tantrums.
This is how knowledgeable I am with the issue at hand.
Still, I voted.
That's democracy. Ignoramuses casting their votes.
Ok, so I had my political rant as well.
Loved it.

These are sounds that are supposed be coming out for the PC3 this summer. Sounds good to me!
Being that you're upgrading from the X50, I imagine that either board would be a major step up soundwise. The thing that tipped it in favor of the M3 for me was:
~ KARMA
~ Mic input!
~ Touchscreen, reputation for being more user-friendly
~ Upgrade path thru samples: the PC3 has an expansion board option, which apparently they're now just getting around to having available to buy, whereas with the sample memory of the M3, you can upgrade the sounds any time using sound font, the supplied expansion sounds from Korg or other 3d parties
~ The 61 note board is cheap! Off ebay you can get a new one for less than $1,500
For rude music like metal, the XS is too polite- the M3 has much better cut thru the mix sounds, esp if you get the radias board.

It does sound like the string sounds are improved a lot in the latest korg models....
Could someone post me a quick sample of the M3 strings?
Is there something like in the oasys aka.
