Stop with the BS people please, dont talk like kids, whos gonna sue them and
what for??? Why didnt they sue them 5-6 years ago when they made the 16

Just to clarify that although I used the word "Hack" in the context of modifying an electrical circuit board (cutting tracks, soldering wires etc) I did not imply in any way any unlawful activity in doing this. There is not. My apologies to anyone who read this the wrong way.
The only issue is NOT a legal one, and it is this. If a user or an agent for the user modifies the equipment in this way, it definitely voids the warranty, and it probably means that Korg or their official service centers will no longer touch it. But that is up to Korg to decide.
I think that the Turkish company doing this are extremely clever and innovative and I am sure their level of support to customers that they have "locked in" to themselves is second to none. I can say that confidently because there is no-one else doing this as far as I know.
Best regards,
Rob

Nedim, you need to rethink the way you interact with people around here. One thing for sure, you have a very low tolerence when anybody says anything that you do not agree with. It gets old and boring after a while.BasariStudios wrote:Stop with the BS people
Modification of this sort is not new at all. It has happened to all kinds of hardware in the past. I agree with Rob. This one is very creative and tricky at the same time. You basically end up purchasing an instrument that doesn't have an official warranty , and at the same time there's a support for it. Obviously, there's been a big demand for a group to take a risk like this. This probably boosted the sales of PA800 for ethnic users in a way, so korg did not suffer financially from it. ( just a guess) Even if it did suffer, it's still hard to take legal actions because of the nature of their business. it's not korg vs. mackie, roland..etc...it's a small business that could be relocated anywhere at any time. Considering that it's not doing any harm but good for the users and the company, then you know why no body is tapping on their shoulders.

A further thought is that Korg could of course decide to issue an "official" 128 Mbyte RAM modification parts kit for the Pa800 with detailed instructions to all their service centers on how to perform the upgrade. That would be fantastic for all Pa800 customers because it would preserve warranty and the resale value of their Pa800's. It would also be a chargeable upgrade which would generate extra revenue for Korg and for the authorized service centers.
It would be nice to have some input from Mr Tramannoni on this one.

Rob

I can't agree with you more on this. Just about every body is going to benefit from this. Users like me who don't care for extra RAM, won't have to spend extra for an optional upgrade. Users who care for it, will gladly pay for it. Every body will live happily ever after. Inputs, discussions .... are always welcomed. "Cussing and yelling" is a poor weapon of choice to attract attention. I don't understand why some people insist in approaching a discussion in that manner. It only degrades their image.Rob Sherratt wrote:A further thought is that Korg could of course decide to issue an "official" 128 Mbyte RAM modification parts kit for the Pa800 with detailed instructions to all their service centers on how to perform the upgrade. PCGUY, you are right but there is one thing, this is not about agreeng or not,
i stated, not dissagreed, sometimes we say funny and senseless things.
You think if i agreed Korg will sue them and if i didnt agree Korg wont?
No, i stated a fact, it wasnt anything about agreement.

I never said that anything you say personally will be used as a base for a decision that a company the size of Korg will ever make. What i said was that you have got into the habit of making rude comments even when you're wrong and way out of your area of expertise. Don't take advantage of people's patience when they're not getting back to your face the same way. I have a lot more experience with different companies and legal aspect of countless similar issues, and yet i can't be confident enough to lable a comment like this"funny or senseless" as fast as you do. I can see why people would get pissed off if someone tries to spam the forum, but this was a totally ligit discussion and you failed to respond to it in a professional or at least peaceful civilized way. It's not a big deal but when you do it too often , then it becomes one! Here's the keyword of the day for you:BasariStudios wrote:PCGUY, you are right but there is one thing, this is not about agreeng or not,

"Respect"!
I want to clarify what Rob already mentioned: if you buy a Korg PA800 you are the owner and can do everything you want with it. You can put 2gb of memory inside if you want.
However, this could be interfering with the warranty you have.
However, I do not expect Korg to make many problems out of it. As everyone knows, Korg Turkey and all the 3rd parties are children of Korg (mother company).
Not in a juridical way, but Korg is in BIG NEED of such companies, because THEY are making all the styles and sounds that the Balkan/Arabic/Turkish world needs.
And with them: almost everyone is buying Korg. If it was not for them, Korg would sell maybe 50% less Korg arrangers
So they all kind of work together. The one needs the other.
Only copyright law could be a problem, but it is not in this case when buying USB from a 3rd party.
And do not forget: Korg has made special arrangers just for the Turkish market !!! Korg PA55TR for example.

There is one fact:
KORG's BIGGEST arranger consumer is Turkey, it is in Korg's statistics
and noone can beat that, no West, no Middle East, no Europe but Turkey itself.

Hi Guy’s,
I agree with Rob,Once you purchased the keyboard it is all yours and you can do whatever you want to do with it just like a car. People buy cars and modify them so what, it is up to each individual what they do with their keyboards .about a year ago me and Fahim posted if possible Korg should make extra RAM to modify PA800 But everyone responded it is not possible, everything is possible .Korg should not forget majority of Arranger users are Middle Eastern and Asian and we don’t use factory sounds. if you guys noticed all Turkish sets are almost over 64MB. It is about time Korg should consider coming up with extension board for PA800
Best regards,
Amiri

Please see the other recent thread started by Asena. I think he is encountering some serious problems with what EMO supplied. Like I said EMO have to sort this out, you cannot get help from Korg once the OS or factory resources have been modified in some way.
I would welcome some input on this forum from technical people in EMO - Unless they are prepared to provide technical support on a forum like this, then I would urge caution.
Best regards,
Rob
